Re: Personalizing Char Wizard or work around?

Maybe what's really needed is a "Bone Wizard"? After all, a walk cycle is more-or-less a walk cycle; most animators work with carbon-based earth-style life forms. Biped/quadraped/fishy/beastie - number of fingery/toe/finny-thingies, eye-ball/ear-count etc... most of those elements are repl...

My apologies if this is dead obvious and I've missed it but . .

Has there been an OS X requirement update since v11.0?

Thanks slowtiger (post 2400!). The trick is that the hair is a PNG image (with alpha), which casts the shadow, so the only way to mask the shadow is to mask the hair, hence the double layers (as in the sample) Uolter, in this case the type of look will be from a pre-existing style which needs to ani...

+ get a boned PNG to cast a local shadow

I realize I can animate the hair and then re-import it but I'm trying to find a more elegant/interactive approach . . .

get a boned PNG to cast a local shadow.

Trying to get a PNG of textured hair to animate while dropping a shadow only onto the face, not onto other elements in the scene. http://www.leaping.com/HairAnimate/HairAnimate.jpg Is there a sane way to get the hair-shadow to match the hair-animation? Example scene "HairAnimateShadowLocal-1a.a...

Some. We generally try to create overlay elements as vectors but we use PNGs if we have to use bitmaps.

Its quite amazing what AS can handle. Big bit mapped BGs at resolutions sufficient for HD with lots of overlays and tons of vector layers, stuff Flash can't even think about importing never mind animating or rendering.

Lucas, 24P & 1440

I think you'll find that Lucas was working 1920x1080 24P 1440x1080 is a cheat size that is used in HDV to get around streaming limitations of the DV tape format. Many distributors and broadcasters will only allow 10% of source footage to come from HDV, probably because the colour/luminance depth is ...

DOH!

If I'd scrolled down a few more layers I would have noticed that layer that wasn't there before and maybe even figured out what it was!

DOH!

Thanks Myles!

The robo-clown looking out the window?

The BG elements (sky, hills) seem to draw more attention than the character.

- frame the shot so the composition draws the eye to the character?

- maybe some coloured lines?

- some secondary motion?

hmmm, if you're really serious about typography, build it in Illustrator and Import it. You'll have way better controls . . .

. . . if you're worried about being able to update text, just be sure to parent the imported text so you can switch it out for the update . . .
