Re: Help Shape the Future of Anime Studio

-- Add the ability to show switch layer contents as thumbnails in the switch layer dropdown. In flash, there are add-ons like keyframe caddy and TrickOrScript that do this and it's EXTREMELY useful for digging through switch layers with lots of content. Re: Help Shape the Future of Anime Studio

Thanks, obviously I am pretty dense. <begin rant> Not to preach, but NEVER accept this. Software developers get paid good money to provide you with clear effective useful tools. The user is NEVER wrong when the GUI is not clear, and the smart developers know this. The reason this discussion thread ...

Re: Webinar Recording Available: Anime Studio 11 New Feature

if you turn off auto stroke and fill, create the box and the points you'll want inside for lighting. Select them all and create a shape (even though they aren't connected they are now part of the same fill. Fill the shape with black, and give the points independent colours. Very clever. Thanks Edit...

Re: Webinar Recording Available: Anime Studio 11 New Feature

At about the 1 hour mark there is an example of using point colors to simulate lighting. Any chance you could let us know how that's done? It looked like you had points inside an object but I couldn't get that to work.

Re: Freehand Tool During Animation

The freehand tool is only available on frame zero. The idea is that you create all of your image objects (characters, circles, squares, etc.) in advance on frame zero, and then work with them in the time line. You can show and hide them (by setting the visibility on the layer dialog box) to make the...

Re: Realistic Character motion

With TV animation, it's actually kind of fun to look for the pattern they follow: Wide shot to set the scene, A and B walk in, A says something, moves to a different pose and finishes. A then freezes while B says something, changing poses a couple of times. A blinks. Cut to a close up, set the goal ...

Re: Monetizing Animation

A very interesting topic indeed. Perhaps you should rephrase you question: How can I create and run a business which sells a product (which happens to be animation stuff I create)? Who has the money and the inclination to part with it, and how can I communicate with them? Why would they pay me? We s...

Re: Upgrade to 10 or wait for 11?

My notes show v10 (probably) came out in March, and they seem to have a release cycle of around a year between major releases with a couple of minor releases in between. With that I would expect the next major release to be 1st or 2nd quarter next year.

Re: Frame by Frame animation?

Hi. I've been following your conversation, and just to chime in ('cause, why not), AS handles importing images pretty well. I did a quick six-frame animation in ArtRage by just treating each layer as a frame. I exported it and then imported it into AS. I created a switch layer with the frames and th...

Re: Webinar: Applying Animation Principles in AS

You should be able to just select the PNG option as you show in your screencap. AS should automatically apply transparency to any part of the image that is not covered by an image or object.

Re: Hardware Comparison - Unexpected Results

The latest version of AS does use your graphics board to speed up the interface. To speed up the interface at work time, you could reduce the display quality by going to the right side of the timeline, clicking on the Display Quality button, and unchecking some options. This won't affect the final m...

Re: Noisy/scratchy sound after exporting

I've noticed various pops in the past too. For me it's not that big a deal since I usually assemble the video and sound in a video editing program. Not really a good answer. :( You should probably put in a ticket with Smith Micro so that they can address the problem. An example project with all of t...

Re: Could an image be warped without bones?

No, I think bones are the mechanism used to warp images. Traditional image morphing tools would be nice though.
