Basic production knowledge: You don't do any music video or any other film completely in AS or any other animation program. They're not made for that. You produce all your assets (that will be single shots) in AS, then render them to top quality video files, then assemble those in a video editing p...

Best way to compile multiple scenes
I've got all the basic scenes worked out for a music video... still fleshing some of them out, but the bones are all there. Basically, each is an animated background with various images overlayed to give the impression of a certain space. Now, a few fancy transitions aside, I'm trying to figure out ...

Sorry for my ignorance here, but like I said, this will be my first time posting on youtube, and I've been reading up on their intellecutual property stuff, etc as well, so knee deep in it right now. What exactly would be the purpose of purchasing something for views there? I don't want to advertise...

ok, thx so I'm assuming 16x9 is probably best for covering both dvd viewing and youtube viewing? I'm having some difficulty squeezing in much tighter, but will do if there's a better option for computer embedded view playing which is primary intended playback. Also... do you mean just 30 with no adj...

changing 1 layer and affecting many
I'm trying to do some tests right now, and still not exactly sure how to do this... I have a repeating wall composed of a moving element which was created by duplicating a layer many times, and arranging them on a grid, then grouping the layers so the many versions cover a big rectangle each touchin...

video settings for youtube
I'm at the point in a music video where I need to start comitting elements to a timeline, and I need to get a few things straight. I intend for the video to be seen worldwide, but if I have to give up some ground in a compromise somewhere, I'd like to do so in favor of USA as it is where I am and wh...

if I understand correctly... because the changes are random... just because this purple square is turning orange doesn't mean the next purple square is turning orange. Anyway... I found it much quicker to define the colors via styles, fill the squares... then quickly grab each squre and move it to a...

Definitely hard cuts. Step sequencing takes care of that. The issue is that changing a fill color is something that creates a keyframe, but switching styles does not. I can go into the fill color for any square, double click on the fill color, change it, and I get an event... which is fine... except...

I have read. on this subject: The manual. Murdock's guide. The above posts. And it's a valid question. If you don't understand my question (and I wouldn't blame you as it's a bit wordy), then I apologize for not being clear enough, but it's easy to demonstrate the issue: Create a simple shape in fra...

Interesting stuff... thought I'd toss in that since asking this, I've come across a program called Vector Magic which does a MUCH better job of tracing than photoshop, or even illustrator. It's pretty amazing what it can do with complex photos as well. I'm not sure about the steps necessary to impor...

animating switching of styles or need other solution
I'm creating a scene with a disco floor in it... basically a checkerboard where the squares light up in each of 6 colors randomly to the beat. I have all of the visual, timing, and other details down except one: I can animate a step switch of the fill colors if I define each fill, but I want to use ...

This hand tracing is essentially what I did... but there are dozens of shapes, and many keyframes, so it's quite tedious. The lack of a numeric readout for curvature value is also problematic for me since I need to recreate the first frame with all the shapes morphed and shifted to new positions. It...

If I made 1 and 30 the same, wouldn't it be playing the same frame twice, so slight freeze in action? Wouldn't I want 1 and 31 to be the same if cycling from 1 to 30? When I start doing any sort of keyframes on a later frame, it sets keyframes automatically for the original position of the points in...
