Re: Create shape picking colors

Lately, I've been using Shape Names like crazy. This is mostly because I'm using layers with many shapes, multiple instances of Liquid Shapes, and Rai's Shapes Window to manage and edit it all. Having shapes with obvious names is the only way I can understand what's in the stacking order.

Re: How to animate on 2s and 4s?

Here's one more: depending on how you animated the Moho project, you could also grab all the keyframes and use Alt+Drag to compress the animation to half (for twos) or one-quarter (for fours) of the duration, then render that out. Then, in your compositing or video editing program, time stretch it t...

Re: How to animate on 2s and 4s?

Another trick is to remove every other frame of your animation and then time-stretch the remaining frames 2X. This one, you can do in Moho in a second project. It's probably easier to do in a video editor, though. BTW, Black Magic Design's Fusion can fill the missing frames by holding the existing o...

Re: How to animate on 2s and 4s?

If you have After Effects, add the Posterize Motion effect to an Adjustment Layer above your Moho layers and dial it to 12. If the animation was animated on ones at 24 fps, this converts the animation's frame Interval to 2. I use this cheat all the time. It's easy, cheap, and removes the 'digital' s...

Re: using 'frame by frame' layer for switching

You can convert an FBF layer to a Switch and vice versa from the Layer Settings window. (Enable/disable Frame By Frame.) To view all the frames of a Switch layer simultaneously, create an empty Group above the Switch layer and drag the contents of the Switch to the Group. When you've finished editin...

Re: Motion Blur in Animation.

I typically use a post-applied motion blur effect in compositing, for example, Twixtor or Photoreal Motion Blur in After Effects. This is a simulated motion blur based on internal pixel tracking, and It's faster than rendering Motion Blur directly on the frames. Unlike rendering with motion blur, th...

Re: Layer effects in Action

BTW, lately, I've been using Liquid Shapes to shade vector drawings. Combined with Rai's Shapes Window, I can set up locks of hair with fairly detailed highlights, and because it's all vectors, the setup can be easily animated with bones, point animation, Curver, and/or Smart Bones. (Magnet tool is ...

Re: Layer effects in Action

Oh, shoot...you're right. I just played with it. I can keyframe the color and the external widget transforms for the shader effects, but not internal controls like Light Angle. If I ran into this before, it's likely that I used conventional methods (offset layers and masks) in the Smart Bone to do s...

Re: How to : rig rubber hose arms

Glad you got that solved, Gibble...and good call, SimplSam! :D How would I check this scale though as I'd like to be certain (plus it's likely something I'll run into in the future anyway To check the current layer's size scale, select the Transform Layer tool. The scale is visible in the tool optio...

Re: How to : rig rubber hose arms

Also, if the Curver layer itself is 100%, then it could be the scale of a group layer up the hierarchy affecting it.

Re: How to : rig rubber hose arms

Just a thought: Could it be a matter of layer scale? Check the size of the Curver layer to see if it's been reduced. When rigging, it's best practice to keep all layers at 100% size on frame zero to prevent situations like that.
