Re: Anime Studio Pro instead of CelAction2D
Hey guys, I just thought I'd add something here since we were actually the studio that produced Joe&Jack. Yeah slow tiger is right, it is entirely ASP but it was back in version 8 or 9 I think. So no smart bones, but the latest show I'm working on Puffin Rock Finally! Someone who is working on ...

Re: Advice on TV production
Greenlaw, let me get this straight - Dreamworks contacted Smith Micro about using Anime Studio for a show and were told to take a hike?
Someone's getting fired. LOL

Re: Advice on TV production
@ Nahmani I`m under impression that you misinterpret my point - even at those days users were able to "adjust" AS toward their needs. Now a days, AS is improved and still could be "adjusted" to meet your needs. I think you misinterpreted my point - I wanted examples of heavy TV ...

Re: Advice on TV production
Where I work, we use Toon Boom Harmony and AE (plus a few other programs.) Recently we wanted to evaluate ASP as a possible option for our team but it's probably not going to happen because S-M requires a credit card number before we can download a trial. S-M was even contacted by phone about this ...

Re: Advice on TV production
they don't like to be early adopters. Unfortunately it seems they would be with ASP. If there was a company out there using ASP in a heavy TV pipeline environment, they'd probably be proudly advertising it, like those guys using After Effects for the Angry Birds cartoons. Most (if not all) of the p...

Re: Advice on TV production
Thanks for the links, I appreciate it. Unfortunately none of them are from TV shows. I can't stress enough how different TV production is to features or animation tests - 10 people working for 5 years on 90 minutes is COMPLETELY different to 30 people working for two weeks on a half-hour show, and t...

Re: Advice on TV production
Are those production rigs or demo rigs? We found out the hard way that what makes a great demo video doesn't actually work in a multi-ep TV show with a big crew.

Re: Advice on TV production
I found Anime Studio's drawing tools difficult to learn at first. AS uses a very different approach to other drawing or graphic software. For someone with experience in Illustrator/Photoshop/Flash, this can be a problem. What solved the issue for me was an excellent video tutorial on infiniteskills...

Re: Advice on TV production
Dkwroot - we know After Effects already, so it's easier for us than Nuke or Smoke. I don't think any companies our size use Blender or Natron for compositing TV work. Sythsin - thanks for the offer. Sounds like we just need more practice. I haven't received any PMs or replies from anyone working in ...

Re: Advice on TV production
Thanks for the information, everyone. So the consensus is to do the final comp in After Effects for big shows? I've got a couple of people playing with Anime Studio now. They say the drawing tools aren't as accurate as Flash, in terms of the line keeping the curve you want. Is that a thing? Or are t...

Re: Advice on TV production
Something to consider is the fact that Anime Studio isn't really a drawing program as much as it's a modeling program. When I first migrated to this program from Flash, I was astonished by how similar is was to 3D programs like Blender and Maya as opposed to typical 2d drawing programs like Flash a...

Advice on TV production
Hey everybody, the studio I work with is dumping Toon Boom and either going back to Flash and After Effects (which we know how to do from our previous shows) or switching to Anime Studio Pro (which we're new to). So I have some questions to help convince the bosses that we're not jumping from the fr...
