I was having the same problem, but more consistently and you solved my problem. Every time I would try to save an ANME fle, I'd get the "wasn't saved properly" error. I opened a Task manager and had 2 COM Surrogate tasks that I clicked end task on. Problem solved. Thanks Primal!

Hey Danimal, yeah I just tried to add some new characters and improve some of the smart bones. Still a lot of way to go but it's getting better.

Thanks for the input, guys. I really appreciate it. I've got a ways to go to improve the animation(shadows, tweaking smart bones, etc) but I'm really finding it addictive. Hopefully more to come.
