Re: Body turn involved layer ordering and can't adjust layer ordering later in the main timeline.

Layer order is a discrete keyframe change, similar to selecting a switch layer. This makes a smartbone assigned to layer order very different from a smartbone assigned to a continuous change. Let's say you have two smartbones: one moves a layer's position to the left, the other moves it to the right...

Re: What additional software are you using alongside Moho?

I record audio in Audacity, which supports a range of microphones and offers good noise reduction and compressor effects. For video editing, I use Davinci Resolve, as many others have suggested. You should check your video card compatibility before choosing DaVi-R, though, since version 18 requires ...

Re: Rebelle 7 Pro for $29 until Nov. 30

Quality find.

I've been looking for something to help me add a little more texture to Moho and Blender, and this definitely looks like it would do the job.

Official Blender 4.0 Release

Blender org has been advertising some major changes to the Grease Pencil feature for the past few months. Link to that portion of the user manual, if you like: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/4.0/grease_pencil/index.html I plan to wait for the first long-term service (LTS) edition, which will pro...

Re: Lip sync: Switch layers vs Smart Bones

I use smartbones for the upper/lower lips, upper/lower teeth, tongue, and the corners of the mouth and the rotation of the mouth, but then create 2-frame Standard Actions using those smartbones for common mouth positions. I just select and insert the appropriate standard action into the timeline, th...

Re: How do you streamline your keyboard shortcuts?

I use custom shortcuts and make them all designed to be used with the left hand without looking at the keyboard or using my right hand at all, so it can keep holding my stylus or my mouse. To achieve that, I take advantage of years of FPS gaming that trained me to use my left hand to press every ke...

Free sample rigs?

That aside, I wouldn't mind seeing what kind of work they're looking for. Turnaround images, color samples, etc.

Re: can't color same shape with two colors

As an avid paint bucket tool user, this is very unusual. Paint bucket should only do that for complex or overlapping shapes on the same layer. For the sake of troubleshooting: 1. Try the square with the 'create object' tool instead. 2. Try the 'delete object' tool on the irregularly created shape an...

Re: Moho Equivalent of Toon Booms 'Auto Patch'

Depending on how many other things there are in the layer, one of the blending modes under layer properties can do this as well (not at animation computer right now, hard to say which).

Re: How to keyframe the mask tool

I used an animated shape mask once to simulate a character using spray-paint. A mask is layer made of objects with points, so it can be animated like any other layer made of objects with points.

Re: Multiple body turn rigs / Organizing files

The quality of multiple rigs is going to depend a lot on how good the underlying turn-around reference is, if that's what you're using. There can be a conspicuous 'jump' switching rigs if you don't have the details just right. 360 rigs can be done, even with a fair degree if detail, though sacrifice...

And now that you have the smartbone, you could even create a Standard Action for the smartbone and drop the 9-frame movement into the timeline all at once.

Re: Smart Bone controlling actions

Depending on how deeply nested your switch layers are, you could tie both switches to a 9-frame smartbone, with each step of the smarbone tied to a shift to the next step in the switch layer. Then you could just pick the start point on the timeline, make a frame for the smartbone's start point, then...

Parent company Disney closes Singapore branch of Lucasfilm's animation division

I ran into this on LinkedIn over lunch. The Singapore branch worked on The Clone Wars. I'm not sure if they were involved in Rebels , Bad Batch , or Tales of the Jedi , or if this will hurt future seasons of the latter two series. Two more seasons of Bad Batch were announced at SW Celebration in Apr...
