Re: how to draw a 3D chair

I tend to shy away from the 3D options, but this inspires me to try it. Thanks for the share.

Re: Make arm appear in front of hair?

... At work, I use a more advanced variation of this trick. I like to make a group containing a copy of the upper and lower arm layers, and duplicate the group so I have a 'Near' set (in front of head) and 'Far' set (behind body). Then I create a Smart Bone action that hides and reveals different l...

Re: Mixing Smart Bones!

Thanks Kuzkuz and Victor for sharing this. I'll have to watch it several times for it to sink it, but it looks like a great solution!

Re: Non-Destructive Bone Scale

I should have mentioned that I noticed this when I tried this technique in earlier versions of ASP. Of course, Moho has the "Ignored By IK" option and that seems to solve this problem.

Re: Non-Destructive Bone Scale

Yes, it's a good trick. The only thing to note is that adding those extra 'hold' bones will break the IK chain.

I watched these without sound and meaning comes across effectively. The auto-generated translations help, but I do hope that a proper English version will materialize.

Re: Image Layers Stretch When Moving Bones

I tried several ways of rigging this. I think this is the simplest method; the main benefit is don't need to redraw the psd file. All the extra bits are added in Moho. So these are the steps: 1) Excluding the body, layer bind everything to their respective bones. 2) For the body, select the middle 5...

Re: Image Layers Stretch When Moving Bones

Let me take a crack at it. Just so I get this right, you basically want the elbows (and joints, in general) to deform well, right?

Re: Image Layers Stretch When Moving Bones

Greenlaw's overview on how to handle joints is good. Strider also posted a video on the subject: 3blziEo7rDs These use vectors, but there are some good threads on using image files (I posted one somewhere, but photobucket just changed their policy on hotlinking so the thread is nearly incomprehensib...

Game of Thrones Prequel [slightly NSFW]

Sorry, this isn't my work, but I wanted to share this GoT animation by Patrick McCarthy. It's very polished and he mentions in the comments that he used Anime Studio to make it. QVFDOdhVAJg He intended it as a proposal for a live action series, but I rather enjoyed it as an animated piece. What do y...

Re: How much time would you spend to make a 5 minute cartoon

Some great advice posted from working pros. As a hobbyist, I find it takes me about one hour for each second of animation. Much of that time is building assets. The animating part is actually pretty fast. A 5-minute animation in one week is an quite a feat by any measure.

Re: how to make auto lip syncing more natural?

The Doraemon example is an interesting one because the voice recording was likely dubbed over the existing animation, so the task really fell to the actor to achieve a natural-looking lip sync. I'll only mention that auto lip sync (which typically uses 10 phonemes) usually results in a busy looking ...
