I've run into this using masks. You could try putting a thin line around your masking shape that is of the same colour as the skin. It seems to help a little but is not 100% prefect.

I had it complely wrong!
I was just trying to do it using copy and paste.
I would never have thought of doing it the way you suggested. When I click on the main timeline it still looks as if you are in the action.
Oh well. thanks for sorting me out!

Pasting Keyframes from main time line to action.

Actually, you can copy keyframes from the main timeline into an action. Make sure you've got the latest Moho update (5.0.2), and you can do this. You can't insert the mainline into an action by reference, but you can insert it by copy (using the Actions window). I've just tried this in 5.07 and can...

The tutorials that come with the program are pretty top notch. They are very friendly and informative.

Just to add to the woes:
Keys in switch layers lose their interpolation if you cut and paste them.
(I'm using 5.06)

You can't by using the ease interpolation. However you can get round this by setting your keys to 'smooth' and adding extra keys. My technique is to add my extra key near to the key I want to slow out or into and then drag it in time. I then check the result by enabling the graph mode and tweak if n...

The layers are fairly close, but I have also angled the eyes, and used masking to keep the face markings from overlapping the borders of the head. These screengrabs might show better:.
Aaaahhhhhh Masking!!!!
A very elegant solution! I wish I thought of it. :)

The layers trick is a useful technique as long as you don't move the characters too much in frame. Yours looks like you didn't seem to be too limited by that. I know when I did the Carrot moving too far in the 'X' dimension it ruined the illusion. I'm guessing that your layers must be quite close to...

Wehey!
Congratulations Barry. I'm in particle hell at the moment so I can appreciate exactly what you went through.
I love the Cat character (Do I detect a little fake 3d on the face?)
Thanks for sharing and showing the World what Moho is capable of!!!

Yes I import Painter bitmaps to trace. As to head turns I guess the most versitile way is to trace frame by frame animation into a switch layer (Extra cool if you can keep the same number of points so that Moho will inbetween it for you). That way you can have a character with a biuilt in head turn ...

Nope. I'm with you there. My workflow goes something like:

Thumbnail in a sketchbook (V rough)
Rough in Painter
Trace animation in Moho
Background bitmaps and colour models in XaraX.

Mohos drawing tools are actually quite good once you get the hang of them.

Sorry about being a bit obscure. I forget that not everyone in animation nowadays has the same background as me (Boy does that make me feel old.) Back in the days whe animators used to draw on paper (No really. It happened!) We used rotating light disks so we could turn our drawings to be able to dr...

Hi Todd. Moho is actually my main workhorse nowadays. I'm doing a 2 minute (ish) spot for Nick jr at the moment that would be pretty much impossible in anything else. Not that it can do it all. I need another app for frame by frame stuff (Bleh - How last century!) Currently that is ToonBoom Studio. ...

Just save your character as a Moho file. You can then load it into any other Moho project by selecting:
File - Import - Moho Object.
Simple as that!
