Re: White bone

I've always been pleased with Moho's eyedropper tool and it's ability to select colors even outside of the window. I wish Blender's worked just as well.

Re: Point Animation

On Debut, I used point animation to move eyelids and a few other features. But I didn't have any other option at the time. Point animation is an essential skill for smartbone animations, and the practice I received on Debut translated over quite well and probably made my face rigs a lot better. But ...

Re: Concept: How to change the scene?

I have seen some users simply arrange a second background on another part of the workspace, then move the camera in a single frame to simulate a 'cut' from one background to another. This does let you use Moho as a preliminary editor of sorts, which cuts down on the number of files you export. Howev...

Re: Bones & Wind... HUM.

Keyframes will end animation cycles in the timeline. I wonder if it does the same for wind?

Re: Drawing Backgrounds

Most of my hobby animation involves replicating backgrounds from a movie, so the process is simpler for me. I can use screencaps as a guideline for the background. There have been times when I want to make an original background, though. For that, I have a set of background perspective vectors that ...

Re: Wireframes

This makes me wonder if Moho could incorporate some sort of photogrammetry techniques in a future release. Photogrammetry is a bit like a mesh deformation, but it uses multiple object images to compute the 3d dimensions of the object. What you did with Moho here is very close to what I managed with ...

Re: Selection to new layer

Good ole' ctrl+x and ctrl+v work in Moho for cutting and pasting shapes (along with ctrl+c for copy). ctrl+x/v/c also works for animation marks on the timeline, which is handy for returning to earlier poses and shapes. I don't think there's a keyboard shortcut for new layers; there's quite a few lay...

Re: Actions interrupt cycle

Look and see if you have 'auto keyframe' turned on, it's a checkbox just above the timeline. When the feature is turned on, Moho will create a key frame for all the bones of the current layer when any one of them is moved (this can be handy for large-scale moves). Turning it off will frame each bone...

Re: New Rigs: To Modify or Build From Scratch

The only time I've been able to successfully re-use an entire rig is when it's just a basic re-color, or change a logo that has the same location on Rig B as it does on Rig A. I have blurry 'background character rigs' that were made this way. I do have a 'standardized mouth' that I use on most of my...

AMD 5700G as a cheap render farm

AMD's Zen-3 based 5700G is on sale at a lot of places this month for about $180, probably to clear stock when the non-X Zen 4 processors arrive. I managed to scrape together an AM4 motherboard and 32 Gigs of memory with the processor for around ~$350 USD and recycled my windows license, hard drives,...

Re: experiencing lag, manipulating layer

I don't think it's your hardware. I've run 13.5 on a 2-core AMD Kaveri processor from 2014 with only 16GB of memory. And while I did have a few overnight renders, I never had 2-second lag on every frame. What kind of storage are you using for assets? If your other background assets are on a sector o...

Only one Platonic Solid? Blender includes a duodecahedron as one of its default meshes, there's no excuse for this.

Re: Best way to setup controls for preset saved facial expressions?

For the face/eye movements in that video, I think they're using some 'shy' smartbones that are set to target the moving pin bones. This is the video that inspired a lot of my face/eye controls: en7UDGDwSCM The magic trick is to set your left/right and up/down smartbones to the same radius as the con...

Re: Hands - Here's how I'm thinking of doing it

This video inspired me to try a rig for hands (not mine): 8GCOMWKUX2o It's taken me a couple of tries (nine)to get to a hand that I really like; 3 fingers like a proper cartoon character. The fingers curl instead of tilting with digits. And there are two sets of fingers with layer visibility, becaus...
