I used a couple of terms and techniques together and that might make it a bit difficult to understand. Let me explain (I'm no compression expert though): - The "direct stream copy" applies to the unaffected writing of the files, so without actual recompression. - The seperate audio track i...

If you'd only want to add a new audio track (that's not your question but just in case you need it) you can process mpeg files using programs that support "direct stream copy" like Virtual Dub. Using that method the data gets copied without recompressing. Many people use that technique for...

You are right about speeding up playback by limiting the detail and layer visibility, however when recording movements when playing the timeline slows to a crawl. It can't keep up adding keyframes. I just tried an empty project, playback was about 23fps, when I moved a bone it slowed down to almost ...

"Less features than animor8?" Sorry, a small misunderstanding. With "most" I meant the same features as in Cybermotion, not "more" than CM. If you have to pay for a program I'd expect a lot more than a free program, in terms of functionality, updates and support. I sti...

I looked at Cybermotion a couple of years ago but I found the gallery to look like...well 3D renders. It's not natural enough for me. It looks good for stills like buildings and products but when I see the humanoid animations it looks really cheap to me. It's not very expensive but I think the free ...

Here are some stills from the trailer with some Moho specific comments: http://www.nobudgetvideo.com/moho/soulsikher_shading.jpg I like the shading feature, although with large offsets and sharp edges it tends to look distorted. The way you can apply it to a layer or a group makes it quite versatile...

AM is really geared towards animation unlike many other 3D apps. There are plenty good 3D programs that have little or no animation features. What's the fun in all those photo realistic shaders and modellers if it can't move properly?

Blender is a professional application that happens to be free and as most pro apps it has its own logic to it. I've managed to crack the surface but 3D still remains much too time consuming for my work methods. But I can imagine if you have the determination Blender can produce incredible results. A...

PS. I do agree, it seems the bigger the company the more intrusive the installers. Like they are the only program on your system.

Soul Sikher

If anyone's interested I have worked on a project that involves some animations done in Moho. I can't show everything but here's a trailer that shows some of the material. Watch it here: http://www.sody.co.uk/soulsikher.html There's some bits and pieces of animation, mostly involving a mosquito but ...
