Re: What approach do you use for characters in a series?
I would actually disagree that you can't design generically. That's exactly why I'm asking these questions and putting out my ideas. To get insight from those who have done a lot of this type of work. I'm still wet behind the ears :o So what you can accomplish is certainly constrained but you could...

Re: What approach do you use for characters in a series?
What you could also try is to animate a riddle. That's a great idea. Thanks ernpchan :) As I've been thinking about some of the ideas here, such as "plan before you rig" in contrast with "don't over design", I was struck by the concept of "specific design" vs "gen...

Re: What approach do you use for characters in a series?
As a quick note, I'm just a hobbyist. In fact, just a doodler compared to all of y'all (from the South, can you tell :) ) but I share you're passion and I love learning from everyone. As an example, when I talk about episodes, I'm not thinking that I personally would actually be able to work on TV e...

Re: What approach do you use for characters in a series?
Bummer, I had written a response, but went downstairs and my session timed out and I lost it all :o Ok, well it's late so I'll be short. Thanks for the ideas. I definitely get that for a one run animation you create what you need. But I'm thinking more like, imagine that something like Kim Possible ...

What approach do you use for characters in a series?
There are so many possibilities to animating that it's a bit overwhelming to me when I think of anything beyond simple sequences. So I'd like to know how those of you who have been animating for a while approach something like characters for a series. I can see that for a one time animation you migh...

Re: Windows 10??
I've switched to Windows 10, both from Windows 7 on 2 of my computers and it seems to be working fine, with respect to running programs like ASP 11, Manga Studio, Corel Painter Essentials 5 etc. I have seen some funkiness with the windows explorer, but otherwise things look good.

Head construction points
This describes a technique I just came up with for constructing a realistic head in Anime Studio when I want to combine head turn and head up and down movement. The intention is to minimize points, yet still be able to create the key prominent features in front, 3/4 and side views. Of course this le...

Hey Furpuss, Thanks for sharing your link. Your style is wonderful! On your Buddy Riff tutorial did you do anything special to get the up and down head movement to blend well with left and right, or did the simpler head shape make it easy to blend well? Whenever I try this I have most trouble with p...

Re: ASP 11 - Point Keyframe Bug
Interesting I was just reading another post by Selgin on relative keyframing :) It was a little hard for me to understand exactly how to use it from the doc, so I played with it some and created a little video to remind myself. I was specifically doing a paste relative and haven't clicked on the che...

Re: using bones as a guide for FBF
Super cool funksmaname :) Your last version definitely had a lot of life. The box rig made me think of art mannequins. Maybe that's what you were thinking too. The more we play with FBF and rigging the more power I see :) I agree that drawing for the final animation is a ton of work (at least for me...

Simplest way to translate points in script?
Just wanting to check if I'm on the right track or if people had a better suggestion. I'm wanting to create some scripts for Kinetic Typography. It seems that most of the text based scripts I've seen create a layer for each word or even letter. I'm not wanting to do that for 2 reasons: 1) If I have ...
