Re: Blender New Innovative 2d Animation "GP Tools"

PS. After going over the Greg Smith (YouTube channel Open Toonz Training) GP tuts again, I have to say there is nothing nearly that information-packed about using GP out there. A wish: that someone with enough knowledge will pick up the ball from there and show how to use those techniques to create ...

Re: Clip Studio, dropping Smith Micro?

Thanks, Herbert, and to all who related their experiences and drew their conclusions from them. Those interested in pursuing the possibilities of Blender can take a look at the interesting thread Herbert initiated on Grease Pencil. I'm personally not so interested in generalizations about a software...

Re: Clip Studio, dropping Smith Micro?

Anything unaccustomed is awkward to use. I never understood why an up-down timeline as opposed to horizontal is a big deal and took such a high priority in OT development. The advances in the painting tools are IMO more substantial, but for some reason I don't get good response with my tablets on ei...

Re: Blender New Innovative 2d Animation "GP Tools"

Great hearing from you again, Greg. A once for a lifetime purchase sounds pretty good, but first I want to see where the Blender adventure will lead. Yes, it does require a lot of functions that are easy to forget if not used regularly. But if you take a 6-month break from Moho, what would you remem...

Re: Blender New Innovative 2d Animation "GP Tools"

I just posted in another thread on Clip Studio, which turned into a discussion of Blender, that I've found some good beginner tutorials for Blender. Maybe it should be posted here instead. A guy who calls himself surfaced studio posted three introductory tutorials with a box modeling project which I...

Re: Clip Studio, dropping Smith Micro?

Yeah Blender is a mind bender, Maya is so much easier to use. Stupid left click right click snappy duplicating windows everywhere, what a mess. Blender is like one of those books or movies you just can't finish ( not that I start that many books   which may be my problem). I have played...

Re: Make a 3d face from a 2d Image

hopefully successful upload through tiny pics - shows that references might be helpful for difficult angles - limits also obvious. The less photorealistic the image, the worse the render. Simple cartoony heads are not recognized by the software. http://i66.tinypic.com/2qvuvip.jpg http://i65.tinypic....

Re: Make a 3d face from a 2d Image

It looked good online. I tried to open the obj file in Moho, it appeared in the layers list but was not visible. Couldn't see it in Blender, either. Windows default apps showed it upside down without color. Is there a Windows app that can display it as it appears at the website? How did you turn the...

Re: Blender New Innovative 2d Animation "GP Tools"

Thanks, Darth Furby. The arrows are a bit tiny on my screen, but they do work. Another nice way to constrain to one direction is pressing G and then x, (or of course y or z as desired) a very comfortable method. I started with Blender a while ago, gave up and forgot everything, so this has been the ...

Re: Blender New Innovative 2d Animation "GP Tools"

Thanks for the hard work in making this tut. I got through the "hard part", couldn't find a way to limit the movements of the walls along one axis at a time. The icon for a widget to do that doesn't do anything for me. Could only move them manually with the right mouse button. But there wi...

Re: Blender New Innovative 2d Animation "GP Tools"

This really looks fascinating, Herbert, but a different world from AS/Moho. The hero with the quick draw (with his weapon) seemed to be a 3D character with a 2D look. I suppose the way to understand this stuff would be to get to know Blender as a 3D program first. Thanks for keeping us informed.

Re: Anyone use a Wacom Intuos Paper?

I don't think it's the paper copy of the digital drawing that makes these tablets attractive to users, it's the experience of drawing on real paper. Most of us are somewhat better on real paper than a screen. I don't own an Intuos Pro Paper or an iskn Slate 2, so I can only go by what they promise -...
