Sounds about right. The current project is Flash based (interactive) so I guess I'll have to get another mortgage and get Animate. I'm really going to miss the bones though :(

dm
" It has morphs built-in, that keep joints bending happily."

That's very interesting. How do you use the morphs with the cutout style joints?

Well. I 'upgraded' to AS 6 and the new gradient tools are so flakey with rigging and animation and especially swf export I promptly un-upgraded. V5.6 just works much better for me at the moment. I really hope this changes in future versions. I've been looking into Animate with the ple edition and qu...

Mikedog Hmm. Just 'upgraded' to AS6 for the gradient tools and they seem much worse than V5 (in which they are usable for animation.) especially when exported to flash (Which is what I need at the moment) I'm looking at Animate for the IK tools. As its colour handling and gradients seem FAR superior...

Also - Animation exported to swf looks completely different to the gradients displayed in the application :(

Just upgraded for the new gradient tools and they seem not to work very well when the bone binding is set to region binding (which I always do for predictable rigging) For example: 1.Create a simple arm and apply a gradient. 2. rig the arm with a couple of bones and set them to region binding 3. ben...

One of the reasons I'm holding off upgrading untill I really have to :(

Ooooh that does seem handy.
For me the most important stuff was Interpolation, bone locking and some sort of sensible colour mixing handling.
Once I get clear of my Illustration commitments I'll have to apply myself

Colour styles does seem broken though :(

More initial thoughts. Nice new interface! Bone locking still not working  Fill styles don't seem to work for me. Applying them does nothing. I've only done a quick test but I think I'll wait until the final version before I invest any more time. I suspect most of the new features are geared to...

Glad there is a new version but sad the keyframe interoplation hasn't been improved. It usually means that I end up keyframing just about every single frame. GaH!

That said AS is still the best for what I do by a long chalk

Markers, bones and frames

I've been doing some short films in AS for a client and the inability of locked bones to stay still is driving me mad. I end up having to key frame every single frame. So I would really like this feature to work in future versions. Off the back of this when my timeline gets full of keyed frames it i...

I shouldn't really need to be doing this but....

It seems that to add points to a path you need to CTRL click.

I can find no way to remove points though

Sigh. I have just completed a very intense 2 week 4 min animation with anime studio and am not in the best of moods with it. In fact every time I do something like this I end up looking enviously at 3d apps with all the cool rigging abilities and optimized workflows. And now this. Not only are we no...
