moving an "eye mover" joystick bone with the rest of the rig
So the technique described in this video for moving eyes seems really useful (in summary, use two bones to handle the horizontal and vertical translation, and then introduce a third pin-bone as target to move those two, making basically a "joystick" for moving the eyes): https://www.youtub...

Moho 12.5 "crash now!" button: `accent grave`
I've stumbled across a problem with the "accent grave" key (on the Mac, it's the key at the top left, under escape, with both ' and ~) in Moho 12. If I hit that key once, it hides all the tool panes (tools, style, actions, et al). However, after that, pretty much anything I do results in a...

Re: Adding smart layer hands to preexisting character
Hey, I'm fairly new to this stuff too, but maybe I can help... but I'm not completely sure what you're asking, and the answer depends quite a lot on how you're doing it. Here's how I'm doing it: The characters I'm working with are all drawn in photoshop and then imported as images (really as .psd fi...

Re: Smart Bone Dials, "auto-freeze keys," and the timeline
Ok, so this approach is almost perfect, but I'm still having one problem. There is an interaction between my "actions" and the "copy last keyframe" that I can't figure out how to fix. I have an action that injects a series of random mouth movements (I know, I know, I need to figu...

Re: Smart Bone Dials, "auto-freeze keys," and the timeline
And today's "holy tomato this forum is awesome" prize goes to Víctor Paredes!
So just to give back, with that hint I found this video:

Once again, the "surely there must be an better way" quest is rewarded. Thanks, Victor!

Smart Bone Dials, "auto-freeze keys," and the timeline
So most of the example rigs I see on the interwebs use Smart Bone Dials to select e.g. mouth positions in a switch layer. And it's pretty easy to understand why I need to make sure I'm using step interpolation when I use such bone dials, and e.g. smooth interpolation for the associated eye movements...

Re: Project organization
Thanks, Greenlaw. I have to say I'm really surprised. The typical answer here is to use relative paths. So when I import an asset, the relative path to that asset is stored in the destination moho file. Then when I in turn include that moho file somewhere else, the second destination keeps a relativ...

Re: Project organization
So my day job is a software engineer, and I've written lots of code to navigate folder hierarchies. Typically the language we use is "relative" and "absolute" paths. A relative path goes up (some number of levels) from the current folder to a parent that contains the folder we ca...

Project organization
So per my earlier post, I'm an amateur coming up to speed on Moho, fairly early in the learning curve. I'm working on a project with my wife to create animated illustrations for her children's book, which will result in a series of 10-15 minute animations for each chapter, with a collection of recur...

I'm not sure what I'm more impressed by... how capable this application is, or how amazing you guys are. That's exactly what I was looking for!

Re: How do I set the start time for an audio track?
Yup! I just looked it up and now the workflow you described makes complete sense. For the next one I'll adopt that flow, seems much easier. Yay experts!

Re: How do I set the start time for an audio track?
Thanks so much. That was kinda what I figured. I am... uh, I am not a professional, not trying to dispute the experts. I'm going to have to go look up the difference between an "animatics" and an "animation." :) Like I said, I'm just trying to reduce the cognitive load as I come ...

Re: How do I set the start time for an audio track?
Wow, thanks for the quick response! That's what I originally thought, but it does the opposite of what I want - instead of moving the audio file back, it shifts it out so it starts later in the animation. If I could specify a negative value in the "frame" textbox that'd maybe work, but tha...

How do I set the start time for an audio track?
I'm a fairly new user of Moho, but I've been digging through the manuals and help text and I think I'm pretty far along the learning curve. Which means I understand probably 10% of what Moho offers! :) I've been pretty amazed at how capable this thing is. And it seems like every time I think, "...
