New Walk Cycle tutorial video
As a 44 year veteran of the animation industry I discovered Anime Studio Pro 2 years ago and was extremely impressed by it's potential. Since then I have been exploring many of it's possibilities. My latest project is a 68 minute tutorial on how to animate Walk Cycles. I have put into it much of the...

Re: Hi, boys and girls! An old fart needs a mentor of ANY ag
Hi- I'm a retired animator who has been using Anime Studio for a couple of years. I believe it has tremendous potential. I started on it at 70 and am now 72. So don't worry about the age thing. But, I must warn you learning ASP was one of the toughest things I ever did. But finally, after a couple o...

Re: Screen capture software
Thanks, Nolan. I had never heard of Voila but ran some tests on it and I think it's going to work very nicely.

Screen capture software
I'm trying to make a tutorial on walk cycles. I tried using Quicktime's screen recorder function but the playback drops so many frames it makes it unusable. Can anyone recommend some screen capture software for the Mac?
Thanks, Furpuss

Re: Manual point binding to bone
Thanks, Synthsin! Now I have another question: Can a bone layer be inside another bone layer? That is, can a higher level bone work with a lower bone layer?synthsin75 wrote:Bones without a parent translate by default. Use the transform bone tool or hold the alt key on the manipulate bone tool.

Manual point binding to bone
I have a character with a bushy head of hair and I want to animate (rotate) a part of it. I set up a bone and binded the points I wanted to rotate. At frame 0 it works great. But when I go to frame 1 and select Manipulate bone the bone won't rotate but will translate. What am I doing wrong? Also, ca...

Importing 3D objects in Anime Studio
Gotta question for all you brainiacs out there. When I import a 3D object into AS it renders with a thick black, ugly line. I was hoping they would be vectors so I could color them, adjust the line weight, etc. just like any other vector object in AS. Does anyone know any way to convert 3D objects i...

Re: Smartbone dials in AS9.5 vs. AS10
Thanks for the info. I'll try the B1 + B1 2 approach and see how that works out.

Re: Smartbone dials in AS9.5 vs. AS10
Maybe you have an example file you could share? In order to achieve what I want to do it would be necessary to rotate both X & Y bones in the Action panel simultaneously. But when you double-click on one the other one rotates to the up position. Is there a way the do 2 actions with one bone, (l...

Smartbone dials in AS9.5 vs. AS10
Using AS9.5 I made some movies with head rotations using 2 bone dials, one for Y rotations and one for X rotations. It worked quite well. But for some reason, when I tried the same technique in version 10 it didn't work. The new bone functions are different. Has anyone had the same experience and ho...

FBF animation
I just finished this little test. The idea was to see if Anime Studio could be useful for traditional animation production. It was done as frame-by frame animation, no bones or anything. It took me about 45 hours of work.

I did my first animation when I was 15 years old. That was in 1956.

360º head rotation
Hello all- I watched a tutorial by a guy named Lychee and it inspired me to do a full head turn utilizing some of AS 3D functions. You can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-lS-UZBlN8 I expanded on this technique by first making a crude 3D template to work over. Many attempts at head tur...

Re: Frame by frame animation
I worked for Richard Williams for many years. He was a very audacious character and could be very difficult to work for but he could do things no other animator could do. We both studied with Art Babbitt for years. His book is a great resource.
