Re: Some Frame By Frame (FBF) Thoughts
You bring up some very good points! Thanks for sharing. One feature I really like in TVPaint is how I can mark closed shapes in a frame with color (style) marks (just a little dash or squiggle,) and TVP will color the following frames with those colors automatically. It does this by tracking similar...

Re: automatic fill for all polygons ?!
I mean when you created the smaller shapes, the the large shape. If auto-fill was one when you did when you created the smaller enclosed polygons, you should already have the shapes available, in which case what I wrote above should work. It if makes it easier to work with, you can select the large ...

Re: automatic fill for all polygons ?!
Yeah, in the future, you need to be sure you have auto-fill enabled. You can always change the fill and stroke of each shape, and even hide the shapes, but if you didn't use auto-fill when you created the polygons then you need to create them manually. It's not a huge deal to make the shapes manuall...

Ah, got it. After I posted, I realized that might be what you meant and revised what I wrote a little.

Re: automatic fill for all polygons ?!
Select all the shapes (polygons) and apply the same Style all at once. To select all the shapes, use the Select Shape tool, hold Shift and scribble the cursor over all the shapes. (Note: This is the only native way to select all the shapes. Unfortunately, Select All does not select all shapes. But I...

Re: DaVinci Fusion vs HitFilm
If you've never worked with nodes before, it may seem intimidating at first, but it's actually very easy once you get the hang of it. If you know how a flow chart works, it's the same thing: Start at the top, follow the path and make stops to do stuff, and end your journey at the bottom. Snakes &...

Re: DaVinci Fusion vs HitFilm
Oh, yes, Blender! The development pace for Blender's new features and UI improvements has been astonishing lately! It's always been available at places I've worked at but I never really used it. Sometimes, a co-worker would use it for specific tasks, and I was always impressed. I want spend a little...

Re: DaVinci Fusion vs HitFilm
When I was with Rhythm and Hues for 12 years, I used Fusion for all my composting and vfx work, working mostly in commercials, game cinematics, and some feature film work. I've been at Dreamworks Animation for about 6 years now, and I use After Effects and Nuke for compositing and vfx for our TV sho...

Re: Moho Plans
Perhaps my frustration is with the drawing tools more than the FBF, though. I'll play around some more and see if I can nail down what specifically felt overly complex. : ) It's been a while since I used Moho's FBF, but, yeah, the workflow is not a perfect system. For example, it's expected that ar...

Re: Moho Plans
Hi cgrotke, 1. it would be simple to draw on a frame*, then add a blank frame with onionskin and draw on that, and so on. Moho 12.5 already does that: Create an Frame By Frame layer and set onion skin to read the previous frame (or second previous if you're animating on 2's or whatever.) When you dr...

Re: Trapdoor puzzle
That's right, Smart Bone Actions do not interpolate sub-frames, only whole frames, so make sure you include enough frames for the smoothest playback. Wes suggested 100 but it depends on the animation. For smooth body turn Actions, for example, I may use 720 or more frames on the timeline for a singl...

Re: Do you edit audio directly on the timeline in Moho? Delete unnecessary parts
I agree, Moho should be able to perform some basic audio editing as you describe. But until we get that, it's better to do this in an audio or video editing program. TBH, even if we ever get audio editing in Moho (which I hope we do,) I would still prefer to edit my audio when I edit my animatic in ...

Re: Moho Plans
Well, tbh, lack of decent fbf drawing tools is the only reason I moved from Moho to Toon Boom, so I applaud the idea of developing better drawing tools. I don't particularly like Toon Boom that much, but have learned it and been using it for pretty much everything for years. I know what you mean. I...

... I can always save backwards to 12.5. And then open to 13.5 Over a year ago, that's what I did with all of my Moho 13.0 projects: saved them as 12.5 projects. After it became clear that SM abandoned 13.0 development, I'm glad I hadn't spent anymore time with it. Now that Moho is in active develo...
