Re: Moho not recognizing .moho files

That's really weird. That said, I would first update to 12.4 (or 12.5 on Mac.) From what I recall, 12.0 was pretty buggy, and 12.4+ is very solid and stable.

Re: What is the future of Moho?

Yeah, I say hang in there too. I use a number of animation programs at home and at work, but Moho 12.4 is still my preferred tool for 2D puppet animation, and I'm feeling confident that the upcoming 13.5 will get Moho back on track to a brighter future.

Re: Moho 13 Bitmaps - Option to Embed internally

I tend to not include too much stuff within the file, maybe because of my bad experience with loading time in the past (all software)...Now the file's enormously large and doesn't open anymore!" So it also needs a button "Un-Embed image files", with a dialogue asking for a folder (or...

Re: Moho Plans

I use Ae for most of my Moho compositing at work, so I wouldn't mind seeing this. That said, there are dozens of other features and improvements I need more in Moho. (The devs know what they are so I won't bother listing here.) But it they decide to pursue this, I'd like it to be able to import the ...

Re: Moho 13 Bitmaps - Option to Embed internally

I'd like to note that the relative paths are not truly relative. Paths are only relative as long as a file is in the same folder or sub-folder of the moho file... Thanks for the additional input, Lukas! I settled for 'it's still kind of messy' in my post because, TBH, I'm not always sure why it bre...

Re: Moho 13 Bitmaps - Option to Embed internally

Sorry, I just remembered that Moho switched to relative paths a while ago so it's not quite as bad as described, but it's still kind of messy and easy to break compared to other programs where I can assign the current content directory. BTW, I manage potential drive letter conflicts using a handy ut...

Re: Moho 13 Bitmaps - Option to Embed internally

I agree that Moho's content directory management is messy and easy to break. Most animation programs I work with allow me to assign a specific directory for a given production, which works much better. This way, even if when the entire production is move to a completely different drive, so long as t...

Re: Moho Plans

That seems really odd. Was that with the final 12.5.1 installer from here?:

This might not make a difference, but it should eliminate some variables.

Re: Let's suggest new API features

Somewhat related is DKW Root's Swap Sides script, part of his collection found here... http://www.lostmarble.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=28816&p=162626&hilit=swap+sides#p162626 To use it, you pick a 'reflection' point in the curve, run the script, and it reshapes the curve into a mirr...

Re: the main menu bar flashes when you click on a menu and / or change menu

I will try to assign more shortcuts to use keyboard instead menus. If you can't get the flickering resolved, avoiding the menus should be a workable solution. II personally don't use the menus very much. Instead, I use some keyboard shortcuts, but I also use my MQC button panel a lot. MQC has butto...

Re: the main menu bar flashes when you click on a menu and / or change menu

I'm on Win10 here. I just now looked at this again. The text flicker I described isn't noticeable under normal use. I have to aggressively move the mouse back and forth quickly to see the flickering. When I used the mouse normally, I don't see the flicker at all. Have you tried updating your video d...

Re: the main menu bar flashes when you click on a menu and / or change menu

That's interesting. Mine flashes too, but I never noticed this before because my title bar is white (by default). What I do see is the black text blinking, it's just not nearly as distracting as the entire bar flashing like in the video.

Re: Issues with Body/Head Turn

That's actually a good idea for turns using Switch layers! I used to do something similar to off-set the eye bones when the head switches to the side view and there's a big jump in location for the eye art. But nowadays, for eye bones anyway, I just use 'external' eye bones with constraints...this w...

Re: Issues with Body/Head Turn

Hi, I’m not sure which rigging approach you’ve taken, but I typically place the entire head in its own group, the body in its own group, and each whole limb in their separate groups. All of these groups are then placed under a single Bone group with the skeleton bones and Smart Bone Dials. This way,...

Re: Character Rig using Images?

The way to work with separate upper and lower limbs is to make sure the bone's joint is centered in the drawing's joint region, and it helps if the joint region is perfectly circular. The way I deal with this is to make a circle layer in Photoshop to help me 'round out' the joint using the circle's ...
