...see points while boning
when i go to a bone layer its underlying layers points dissapear - making it quite difficult to place bones precisely - is there any way of seeing these points? also onion-skinning should be improved BIG TIME - its impossible to use when you ahve loads of shapes - it should render a transparent colo...

In AfterFX, if you click the diagonal line on the left set of toggles of a layer (next to motion blur/3d layer) it changes from doubling to tweening of frames i think so you can actually tell it to literally copy frames or come up with an automatic in between. mine wasnt really a complaint about AS ...

Ah, i havnt even tried exporting to flash... yeah you'd probably have to have a totally 'flat' look for that - but i'm not that fussed... internet technology is such that a well encoded video can stream perfectly well - i dont trust flash to deliver content in sync... I think working with video is m...

slowtiger is right... what this thread made me think is that a layer must contain the same number of points througout an animation, which means 'morphing' is just plane ol' point manipulation which you'd have to do to create your target... i would be more interested in what slowtiger suggested so yo...

thats excellent advice Slowtiger... I'm pretty new to this animation game, but i've been reading a few books and stuff (Animators Survival Kit/Timing for Animation)... I would deffinately work at 24 (or 30 if you like) and get all the smoothness thats automatically created, and i believe there is a ...

slowtiger - you got my brain ticking now, that would be a great setting for an animation in this style :) hmmm... dlangdev - nice work! Looking at your file though - OMG is it complicated!... you might be surprised to learn that the entire 'Don' character is on a single layer! Things i've recently l...

Thanks for the comments everyone :) The eyebrows are line weight, but the moustach is a shape with no line... (i also go carried away and gave the moustache a halo) Basically just draw really simple shapes (i.e. theres 3 or 4 points in the cheeks highlight), colour it with the colour you want and gi...

Hey - i'll try to keep it brief. I use illustrator quite a lot and have done for a while for print work - but now i'm getting to grips with AS drawing i'm starting to prefer it - ESPECIALLY for using within AS... really fluid shapes possible without having to worry about point anchors... for cartoon...

8) yeah, i worked out it would work with eyes soon as i saw it - coz i've been using the same system for eyes too... Only problem i'm having now is rotating the face to full side view (where the mouth cuts into the face) - you cant seem to keyframe hide/show lines, maybe i can animate line width ins...

Sorry to deviate, but the most useful thing i learned from this file was how you construct mouths... i developed my own solution (which until now i thought was quite clever) where i have two skin coloured layers coming out sideways from the mouth corners and covering a big area around the mouth... t...
