Re: Maintain the volume of an object

Or... You can bind the shape or layer to a bone and use the bone to give it a 'squash and stretch' effect. To do this, select the Bone with the Select Bone tool and then open the Bone Constraints panel. Next, enable Squash And Stretch Scaling. To see the effect, you need to be on an animation frame ...

Re: Maintain the volume of an object

Note that Transform Layer behaves differently: - Drag from corner, scales uniformly from origin - Drag from side, scales symmetrically from origin - Press Shift while dragging from corner, scales non-uniformly from origin - Press Shift while dragging side maintains volume (i.e., squash and stretch.)...

Re: Maintain the volume of an object

Here's the list of Transform Shape shortcuts that work for me in Moho 12.5: - Drag from corner, scales non-uniformly from opposite corner. - Press Alt while dragging from corner, scales uniformly from center. - Press Alt and then Shift while dragging from corner, scales non-uniformly from center. - ...

Re: Remove Timeline Highlighted object

Yeah, if you didn't know about Timeline Visibility, it can get frustrating when accidentally enabled. But now that you do know, you'll want to keep this feature in mind. Timeline Visibility is incredibly useful when you start building more complex animations. BTW, if you haven't watched it, check ou...

Re: Animating Character Lighting

That reminds me: one unfortunate issue with Layer Comps is that you can't export your settings to re-use between projects. Natively, you need to recreate your desired settings for every project. Thankfully, Synthsin75 created a handy script that makes this a lot easier. I'll have to look up the link...

Re: Animating Character Lighting

Yeah, I do this all the time, sometimes in Moho and sometimes as a post effect in compositing. In Moho, you do this using the style effect you want. This is similar to breaking out a matte from the character or its body parts in a compositing program and off-setting the mattes to shade or darken the...

Re: Caustics

Hey, a fellow LightWaver! I was going to suggest rendering an image sequence from a caustic generator and comping it. I think that always looks better for 2D or 3D work, and it's easy to do. In a 3D program like LightWave, I might add the sequence to a light and project the fake caustics onto object...

Re: cello guy animation

Yeah, I like the design...very nice! Re: the lag, for reference footage (like an animatic clip) I avoid importing a movie file. That takes too much CPU power and RAM that is better used for animating/interacting with Moho. Instead, I prefer to use a low-res JPEG image sequence because it's frame acc...

Re: Mirroring action for other side!

Sorry, slight correction to what I wrote above. To do what I described, you should use Swap Sides, not Mirror Points. Swap Sides will flip the point positions across the select point. For example, this is useful for making a shape morph smoothly from a left side profile to a right side profile. Mirr...

Re: Mirroring action for other side!

I agree with Neeters guy, Mirror Points is a great way to 'flip' vector shapes that needs to deform across seamlessly inside an action. I often use this tool for smooth 3/4 to 3/4 turns. When Mirror Points works, it's awesome but it can sometimes fail and mess up the curvature in a few points. But e...

Re: Try this if Moho is not running smoothly

For me, one cause of a major slow down happens when an unintended pre-zero keyframe is created. Because this keyframe(s) can appear a thousand or more keyframes before frame zero, the extra evaluation Moho has to calculate puts a major drag on performance. (Mostly affecting interactivity.) To correc...
