Re: Traditional vs. vector animation

There is no doubt it is beautifully animated, although if the vector version was achieved simply by moving the vectors around on top of the drawn animation (which is what it looks like), then I would still call this traditional hand-drawn animation. The vectors are simply used as another kind of tr...

Traditional vs. vector animation

The is a test where I took a scene from a hand-drawn cartoon and replicated it in anime Studio Pro. Traditional animation is on the left, vector animation on the right.

Further explorations into ASP 3D territory

There were no bones or actions used in this movie. Or 3D imports. All done within ASP except for the background.

Re: Exporting with an alpha channel in version 11?

I haven't tried 32bit rendering because I don'y know how. Sorry to be so thick. Can you explain how I can do that?

Thanks!

Exporting with an alpha channel in version 11?

In version 10, when you exported your animation, you were given a choice whether to have an alpha channel. In V.11 there doesn't seem to be an option. I tried all the various Presets, but no alpha channel.

Can anybody help me out on this?

Can Anime Studio imitate the classic Disney style?

Just for fun, I thought I'd try something. I dug out an old Mickey Mouse cel I bought at Disneyland back in the 50s. I scanned it and brought it into Anime Studio as an image and made a copy of it. The idea was to see if ASP could create an image that mimicked the classic Disney style of hand-inked ...

Re: More exploration if ASP 3D capabilities

I'd like to know more details about this. You have many years of experience as a professional FBF animator. I will closely study anything you write. It was a very complicated system I developed but if you want to get started I recommend watching Toonmilk's tutorial on 2.5 head turns. This is where ...

More exploration if ASP 3D capabilities

This was an experiment to see how far I could push the 3D abilities of ASP. There were no actual 3D objects imported and no 3D conversions. No bones were used. The first step was to build a 3D wireframe mannikin. The model was built solely within ASP using the XY Rotate tool and the Transform layer ...

Re: ASP 3D capabilities

It's likely to be to do with layer origin and vectors in the layer that have, when rotated in 3d, a large z depth - large enough so that when the "front" of a shape is in front of the origin and the "back" behind it there will be other layers with z position somewhere between it...

ASP 3D capabilities

Hey everybody- I've been working on a video that explores the capabilities of Anime Studio's 3D object creation. It's a model of an old pickup truck. You can see it here: https://youtu.be/G2ASUa_JR4w My first approach was to use Blender but I found that learning Blender is not something you can do in...

I'm thinking about it but it is quite a complicated technique and a tutorial would probably be several hours long. Which would be a LOT of work! And I haven't yet perfected the technique either. So maybe sometime in the future.

Thanks, Victor. I am still a relative newcomer to ASP, started about 2 years ago. Most of what I know I learned by watching your webinars.

ASP 3D capabilities

Hi all-

I have been exploring Anime Studio's 3D capabilities. There's not much but you can do a lot with with them. Here's a test I just finished. I used no bones, mouth is point level animation. The rest is mostly 3D. You can see it here: https://vimeo.com/136559096

If I get a good response to my tutorial there are many other topics about the basic principles of animation I could do videos on.
