My future with Moho

Hi Moho folks, I've got some news about Moho, and unfortunately it's probably not what you were hoping to hear. Jumping straight in, today was my last day as an employee of Smith Micro. I will no longer (for now) be directly involved with Moho development. (I want to be careful about not talking abo...

This is a great idea, Víctor! I think a lot of people will find this useful.

Re: Some Moho Work in 'All Hail King Julien'

Thanks, Dennis. It's great to be able to share some of this work publicly - at least to say this and this is done using Moho, by these talented people at a studio you've heard of. People often ask, "Who else uses Moho?" and often we can't answer publicly (I think you guys at DreamWorks wer...

Re: Drawing while animation is playing.

I know this isn't what you were originally asking for, but could the Scripts->Draw->Animated Strokes script do something useful for you? It's only in Pro, but try this: Draw some freehand curves with auto-stroke turned on. Maybe sign your name as a text. Now choose Edit->Select all to select all the...

Re: Moho Pro 12 - Masking Bug

Thanks for posting the file. I found and fixed the problem for the next update. It turns out it's not really about masking. Something funny happened to this file: there's a keyframe at something like frame -900000. We've seen this before and I'm not sure what causes it. This in itself is not exactly...

Re: Moho 12 running slow? Spinning beach ball

I used the new vectors and auto-freeze keys. I didn't use any Mesh. Even if I disable the auto-freeze keys it runs slow. They are two characters with a bone layer and another bone layer inside. No textures inside or any switch layer. With a PNG background and the size only 720x720. It only happens ...

Re: Does GPU acceleration matter?

Pre-rendering or caching or whatever you want to call it is an interesting idea. I think we'd need to do it under user control. You could imagine caching layers that haven't been changed, but we have a lot of inter-dependencies between layers (bones are the simplest example, but reference layers, pa...

Re: Does GPU acceleration matter?

Your GPU is not used for final rendering, so there's no effect on quality or rendering times as far as that goes. On the canvas, the GPU works best for images. GPUs are really good at drawing textured triangles, and that's how we draw image layers on the canvas. So if you're doing cutout-style anima...

Anime Studio is now Moho

As you may have noticed, we're changing the name of Anime Studio back to its original name: Moho. It's the same great product (actually better), just with a new/old name. The Anime Studio name led some people to believe that the product was specifically for Anime-style animation, which isn't the cas...

Victor, that's great! A tutorial that both explains and demonstrates itself. Plus, it was exported as an animated GIF. I love it!

Re: Brushes and Blend Modes

This thread is a good example of the usefulness of the bug database. The thread was started in May 2014. But a bug was filed just last week and I fixed it yesterday. Anyway... The hue, saturation, luminosity, and color blend modes in Photoshop use a perceptual color space, while in Anime Studio we w...

Re: How are individual layers from a .PSD defined in ASP11?

I've added the following functions to the ImageLayer class that Lua scripts can use: void SetSourceImage(const char *path); // set the path of an image - you can use filename.psd*5* notation if you want to const char *SourceImage(); // return the path of the image being used - *5* notation will have...
