NEWS FLASH!!
I have just made a neat discovery! For those who are following this development I have made a new adjustment to the bone structure that makes rotating the head even better!!

Ok here it is. I just finished it and would love to hear any feedback. What I like about this technique is that very little bones are required to make the rotation. I realise it is less powerfull than your springy mechanism rig, but a simpler option for the less tech savy. All thanks to muuvist :) for the initial idea. Genete is already expanding the horizons as always...

Hi Genete. Your re-done file is great! I also used a little translate bone to drag the eyes slightly over the edge of the head for each left and right profile. This is very interesting. 3D head turn with simple bone technique

Here's an interesting but very simple technique for doing 3D rotating heads as long as they are simple shapes. I'm still playing with this but already using different shapes introduced by muuvist. I just made a very simple head turn using this technique.
Looks like I can get a few different axis rotations using it too.

I'm totally amazed by how simple this technique is to rotate a set of eyes in a 2D sense. I've been playing with it for hours and it is amazing. Try doing this with manual point manipulation would be sooo time consuming. Thanks Muuvist!
