binding layers
I'm having difficulties with binding layers. For one thing, I see no way to confirm a layer has been bound to a particular bone. Or to unbind a layer from a bone. Or what the rules are for binding GROUP layers (do you have to bind all the sub-layers... what if you do.... what if you don't?). Where i...

 haha! I don't know how to respond without making you sound retentive... ;) You really can't envision a situation where if you aren't precise it will look bad? There is a line in an old Daniel Boone TV episode, that goes something like this. A Macintosh clan man is asked to move a fence ...

lol what are you going on about?! and why would you need such pinpoint precision on border size in relation to screen size?? sounds like you need a CAD program, not anime studio ;) Because it need to be precise or it looks terrible.... I'm trying to think of how to respond to you with accusing you ...

Converting line width to screen length?
I want to make a black rectangle that is EXACTLY of dimensions 2.0 x 2.0. So, I set the rectangle endpoint coords to (-1,0), (1,0), (-1,-1), (1,1). And then I set the border width to zero.... wait what?... it resets it to .25!!! Apparently you HAVE to have a border of some thickness (why?)... Now, d...

I too found the manual to be seriously lacking and/or confusing on the topic of masking. I have been collecting tips from the forum to help me get a handle on it. Start here: http://www.lostmarble.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12755 Here is some more stuff on masking: Masking Notes Best Masking Tutoria...

Masking seems to be a very powerful feature. But I'll ask once again: WHERE IS THE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION FOR HOW TO USE MASKING? The User's Manual only has a few examples. These examples do not even mention any of the following topics, and so doesn't even touch what I'm guessing is the full power ...

Exports with some black frames
This is not a terrible problem since I have a video editor and can remove the bad frames. But this is what is happening: I have a somewhat complex mouth structure (my animation, not me personally). It has an 'upper switch layer' that can choose between a mouth that does lip syncing based on either v...

Starting to 'get it'...
OK. Been studying and playing around with and doing tutorials for AS7PRO for about a month now. And I'm starting to feel like I'm 'getting it'! It is beginning to feel natural to use. There is a lot going on here, and I am in no way kidding myself that I understand even a fraction of everything poss...

Changing the parent/child of a bone
Is it possible to: (1) DISCONNECT: Make a child bone an orphan (without deleting the parent bone)? (2) LATE CONNECTION: Make an orphan bone the child of an existing bone (any restrictions)? (3) MASTER TO THE MASTER: Make a new/orphan bone the parent of a parent bone. (4) NEW-FOUND GRANDFATHER: Make ...

Nicely done! A LOT of work, and it does flow very smoothly. Also very close to the source-material cartoon style... I also noticed a cool thing. Though there are no vocals (for obvious reasons, the children provided that), I can tell where the choruses are because this is where the animation repeats...

i think you could probably add more characterisation without over complicating the style... make the eyes open really slowly, squinting at the light, play with the size of the pupil as the eye opens to give the character some personality/motivation/spirit - animation isn't about complicating things...

Ha! that's quite the teaser! I'm quite glad you managed to get the size down as it might have got less favourable reactions to the extreme minimalism had it been 190meg download! You've got quite a good voice for this, and with the quite descriptive soundtrack i think it works as a teaser now down ...

OK.... this one is REALLY download friendly... I posted it to YouTube (HD)! First off, this is a work in progress. And it is only the first minute and a half or so of what will be a lot longer. Also, it will also get far more animation intensive. I'm going for a minimalistic approach at first... als...
