Problems with Exporting/Importing Actions

If I have a simple action with nothing more than bone movements, I have no trouble sharing it among different files/characters (identical bone structure and names). My problem is in more complex actions, which include switch layers and/or layer order changes: the switch layer changes and the layer o...

Re: Walk cycle - "mirror" and "walk in place" old settings?

I think you are referring to Mike Kelly's "Walk Assist" tool (later replaced with his "Swiss Army Bones" tool). Those features (mirror and walk in place) were never part of Anime Studio itself. I don't know if those tools work in Moho 12. You can get more info about them over at ...

Re: New computer recommendations wanted

Thanks again, Wes and kitzeldikatz - your advice and information have really helped me sort through a lot of this! I've definitely decided on an i7 processor, although not yet on the specific one, and 16MB of RAM. I still haven't decided on whether to rely initially on the integrated graphics and ad...

Re: Editing Workspace colors

On the Preferences/Appearance tab, change the "brightness" control. That should lighten up the dark grey background - it'll still be greyscale, but you can get it anywhere between black and white. You may need to change the "highlights" color just underneath, but that's easy enou...

Re: New computer recommendations wanted

Thank you all for your input. I had briefly considered getting a laptop, but for several reasons I have decided to stick with a desktop. While nothing is set in stone at this point, I am hoping to keep my budget within the $700-$800 (US) range. Definitely under $1000, and would prefer within the $50...

New computer recommendations wanted

I'm probably going to have to replace my current computer, and I want to buy (or build) something that will be better for Moho animation (particularly improving rendering time). I am a hobbyist, and I don't have unlimited funds, so I am looking for recommendations about which components are the most...

Re: exporting to mov format.

You have to use the 32-bit version of AS; the 64-bit version doesn't work with .mov files.

Re: Reusing and Sharing Animation as Actions

After importing the action, be sure to set it as "relative." This will minimize any unwanted distortions due to bone length differences. I wanted to ask a question about this during the webinar, but didn't get the chance, so perhaps Victor or someone else can answer: Are there any situati...

Re: Constrain movement of an object within a defined area?

Thanks, Wes - that's amazing and exactly what I was trying to accomplish! I don't yet understand HOW it works, but I will be studying your file (it obviously has something to do with the angle control bone, which I've never used before, and the IK stretching, so I'll need to do some research and exp...

Re: Constrain movement of an object within a defined area?

Thanks for your reply, Slowtiger. I did think about using bone constraints (and have been playing around with this a bit, experimenting with various constraint and bone length settings), and it does help some. Now I'm trying a ball inside a circle, and the double, constrained bone technique works to...

Constrain movement of an object within a defined area?

I have a plain, simple box. Inside it (on a separate layer) is a ball. I want the ball to be able to move about anywhere within the box, but not be able to "escape" the box. Think pinball machine, except that I don't need to automatically control the movement in any way (e.g. bouncing off ...

This works GREAT!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to post these hacks and to provide the tutuorials. And explaining about the need to "clear out" the .dat file resolved a very confusing problem for me!!

Re: more mouth shapes

"TH" and "L" can pass for one another, as they look almost identical. Check it out in a mirror. Absolutely. However, perhaps because my animations are so rudimentary (due to my limited drawing/rigging/animation skills  ), I tend to over-compensate by trying to get my lip-s...

Re: more mouth shapes

I was wondering if there have been any new ideas for adding phonemes to Papagayo since the last post on this subject (about a year and a half ago)? I would like to add new phonemes to Papagayo because I always use more than the basic 10 mouth shapes (including "th" and a few others). Yes, ...
