It's okay, I knew the quoting had just got messed up somehow
Well, as Selgin pointed out, and I noticed when I fully read the details on the website, there will be a Windows version. They are just starting with the mac.

Re: Plastic animation paper
Hey, I never said any such thing!
I can fully understand why they are developing it for Mac first. I just don't know anyone with a Mac that's all and I didn't say what I'm quoted as saying above hehe

Re: ASP 10 Drawing tools question
I'm with Danimal. I find nothing wrong with the drawing tools in AS. I have other Vector drawing software but I prefer to use AS even for none animation artwork at times.

Re: Animated background textures?
The first price you see is for 'up to 10 licences' at $300 so it's not very clear. I had to almost go through to the point of purchase to see the single license price. It is $89. Philip confirmed that today and is going to make that clearer I believe.
Yes it's quite useful software to have at times.

Re: How long have you been using AS?
I've been using it about the same length of time as Danimal. About 7 years or so. I was looking at Moho for quite a while after seeing it reviewed, with other 2D software, in a UK magazine. Of course, as soon as I went to buy it I couldn't find it! Then it re appeared as Anime Studio via Smith Micro...

Re: Animated background textures?
Telemacus: I'm not sure where you saw $300 as the price I saw was $89? I bought it years ago and have upgraded ever since so I don't see the full price often but I'm pretty certain it's nowhere near $300. For several licences maybe? I have the same configuration laptop as you and I don't get crashes...

Re: Animated background textures?
I've mentioned it before but PD Pro can do this kind of thing very easily and a lot besides. It's not very expensive.

Ah right. Thanks for clearing that up. I don't know anyone with a Mac but I can pass the info on now knowing it will be Windows also.

Re: Factors that might cause unusually long render time?
I have experience mainly with Maya and that can take an age to render. I don't see how you can compare unless each software is rendering exactly the same thing. I've never had a render in Anime Studio take more than a few minutes. But then I would never have anything longer than 10 seconds of animat...

Re: smart bone dials
Whatever they are called they do exactly the same as Poser or Animation:Master. Yet, according to you it's "grossly misleading". How? What don't they do that you expected them to do? Forget about the naming. Apparently you've been mislead.

Re: smart bone dials
Well the controls in Poser don't do anything different to the controls in Anime Studio. You could have a series of SmartBones to control each finger etc. I don't really see why what you call them has any relevance at all?

Re: Side view walk and turn question
I was reading this and remembered that a few years ago I'd experimented with doing a turn using just two character views. It does work if you follow what Selgin said and have good anticipation before the turn. I prefer 'snappy' to 'floaty' any day

Re: Sneak Walk Cycle, How can I improve?
I agree that you should include the whole character from the start.
Here are a couple of 'sneaks' I did a while ago. They are 3D but the principle is the same of course.
EDIT: I've looped these a couple of times.
