Re: Krita 3 released with animation tools
Have you considered upgrading your graphics card? For graphics Intel is just about the worst you can get. So many problems with 3d and 2d software that make use of OpenGL are caused by Intel. Of course, if you are working on a laptop, it may not be possible to upgrade. Thanks for your interest, Her...

Re: Has Anyone Used The-Tab?
I second ClipStudio - vector drawing tools with the best feel . For me, nothing comes close. And the bitmap drawing tools are also very good. Clipstudio has already been adopted by a number of Japanese animation studios, by the way. The animation tools are quite good, but the layered approach may ta...

Re: Krita 3 released with animation tools
I tried this, but as they state on their web page, there is a problem of compatibility with Intel graphic cards. One recommended workaround, disabling GPL in the program, didn't help. My drivers are up to date - maybe they'll solve this problem in the near future. OpenToonz, on the other hand, is n...

Re: TOONZ GOES OPEN SOURCE
Does opentoonz have switch layers or something like it? If you make a cutout character, how would you do lipsync? Simple in OpenTOonz: any level with drawings can be used as a switch layer with the skeleton tool in animate mode. Select a level in a column, and active the skeleton (bone) tool. Selec...

Re: TOONZ GOES OPEN SOURCE
Says You! Why do you assume that if a person can't afford Moho, in this case, they don't make money by producing animated content? You make a lot of assumptions about people, don't you? I said, "If you do not intend to make money at it..." That leaves open the possibility that you current...

Re: Blender New Innovative 2d Animation "GP Tools"
Greg, rigging in 3d applications is a bit of a specialist job, but anyone can learn how it is done. A good quality (open source!) Blender rigging course can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3wFcRXImVPOQpi-wi7uriXBkykXVUntv The author worked on rigging jobs for the Blender open ...

Re: Blender New Innovative 2d Animation "GP Tools"
Toonz worked for Studio Ghibli because they have hundreds of animation slaves working, largely, with a frame by frame workflow. The animation environment in Japan is quite unique and does depend on lots of underpaid laborers. I daresay that anything that absorbed at least some of the sweat, produci...

Re: Blender New Innovative 2d Animation "GP Tools"
Fact is that the first (buggy and feature regression-prone) version of OT was used in feature-length Ghibli productions - to them it was "finished" enough to do the job at hand. Are you sure about that? I would have thought the splitting from the Premium version would have introduced all ...

Re: Blender New Innovative 2d Animation "GP Tools"
Mike: Not in a million years - (which may be how long we will have to wait for OpenToonz to "get finished"). I wonder how many people there are in software purgatory? Greg Smith Whether software is "finished" depends on your point of view, the work you (want?) to do with it, and...

Re: Blender New Innovative 2d Animation "GP Tools"
Blender is no more difficult to learn than Maya or Max or Houdini. Learning to use a 3d application just takes time and a little bit of effort. I'm with Greg here - 2D artists don't WANT to learn something as complex as Maya or Max or Houdini. Absolutely agree! That is why you see so many 3d animat...
