Hello Giles,
I'm so pleased that you're producing videos again.
I'd already benefited from the existing ones.
Thank you!

Re: Some bones rotate; others don't
Or, maybe this is it...
Where you have two bone fat-ends meeting, the one that is vertically above the other doesn't rotate.
And, if there's an end-fat-end (i.e. one without another vertically below it), that doesn't rotate, either.

Re: Some bones rotate; others don't
I think I've fathomed this one out... I put a bone going downwards ABOVE the character's head and then only use downwards bones throughout the character. This means that all the bones in the character rotate (i.e. plus artwork) and the one above the head - which doesn't rotate - can be ignored as no...

Re: Change Parent tool
Many thanks, slowtiger. I think one of the issues is learning a long-established program where some of the original elegance has disappeared through the discursive proliferation of features. Basically: it becomes a challenge to see the forest for the trees. For example, MS Word 1.0 (which I still ha...

Some bones rotate; others don't
Hello. I note that some bones rotate with the Manipulate Bone Tool and others don't. I've started learning all over again (but not using the support materials) by fiddling and seeing what happens. I've drawn a typical multi-layered character with bones going down from the abdomen and bones going up ...

Make Smart Bone Dial... not for bones?
Hello,
Am I right in understanding that you cannot control bones using the Smart Bone Dial?
I note that the Manipulate Bones Tool is not available during the recording of Actions.
Thanks for any advice.

Re: Change Parent tool
Dear jahnocli, Thanks for your thoughts. It's not the program I'm frustrated by: it's the support materials. Referring to tools that don't exist (i.e. using different, undocumented names for them), etc., isn't helpful for a beginner. In this instance, wasting lots of time my trying to find the "...

Re: Change Parent tool
Nope, it means the Reparent Bone Tool. Just bad syntax... again. Are these support materials tested on new users? I am, by nature, very pedantic which is why. when I learn a program, I end up (slowly) knowing it inside out. But these vagaries - and actual errors - in the ASP support materials are ca...

Re: Change Parent tool
Thank you! Also, in the Users Manual it says under Reparent Tool... "Select the bone whose parent you want to change using the Select Bone tool. Then, using this tool, click on the new parent bone." I've tried this, but it doesn't seem to work. I am presuming that when it says "this t...

Re: Copy-Paste keyframe doesn't work
Many thanks for the replies. I'm a bit bewildered. When I'm using the Infinite Skills ASP11 work file, it doesn't work. When I start from scratch, it does! I note that in the IS completed file, there's a timeline labelled "Bone Translation" which (1) isn't mentioned in the video, and (2) I...

Change Parent tool
Hello,
In the ASP11 Users Manual, page 98... it says "use the Change Parent Tool".
I cannot find it!
There's a Reparent Bone Tool but I presume the Users Manual is correct and that isn't the one to use!
Thank you for any help.

Re: Copy-Paste keyframe doesn't work
I THINK I've figured it out.
The timeline marker has to be AT the keyframe button-thing during the copy. It cannot be elsewhere or, seemingly, it sort-of copies the state where the timeline marker is.
Have I got it, please? Brain hurts.

Copy-Paste keyframe doesn't work
Hello, I wonder if you could advise, please? I am using ASP 11.2 for Windows. I have a shape/object in place on the stage and have created a keyframe for it at frame 1. I moved the timeline marker to frame 24. I relocated the object and created a second keyframe at 24. I moved the timeline marker to...
