Create a switch layer for the hand where one of the layers if holding the sword where you want it, so when you start animating the sword fight you dont have to sync the sword and the hand together, saves you time and energy. (the sword free floats and doesnt stick with the hand the whole time.) also...

intrapolate the switch layer.
