Re: TOONZ GOES OPEN SOURCE

Wes:

Says You! Why do you assume that if a person can't afford Moho, in this case, they don't make money by producing animated content? You make a lot of assumptions about people, don't you?

Wes:

Who said anything about being a hobbyist? I'm certainly not. I'm simply poor, that's all.

Re: Blender New Innovative 2d Animation "GP Tools"

Herbert: Thanks for the links. However, I won't be going down the Blender Rigging road. I'm convinced that for the individual artist, who wants to have the ultimate form of animated expression - 2D is the way to go. It's the practical route that allows one person to finish what he starts - in the mo...

Re: TOONZ GOES OPEN SOURCE

Mike & Wes: I'm unsure as to whether I will be posting - either here or on my own YouTube Channel - any more Moho tutorials. And this decision not to publish, (if I make it), comes for the following reasons: 1) I, myself, cannot really afford Moho and Smith Micro's policy of constantly charging ...

Re: Blender New Innovative 2d Animation "GP Tools"

Herbert: The most salient point is that it is the Studios who are driving this endless downward spiral of non-animation for entertainment - so much so that it has been a conditioning exercise to adapt every successive generation to the new and lower standard. Since we both agree that frame by frame ...

Re: Moho 12

At best, Smith Micro's marketing strategy is dilute and takes a "mixed" approach - trying to address and maintain their amateur animator audience - while obviously trying to appeal to a Professional audience with high level features and a higher price. They are "trying anything" ...

Re: Blender New Innovative 2d Animation "GP Tools"

Toonz worked for Studio Ghibli because they have hundreds of animation slaves working, largely, with a frame by frame workflow. The animation environment in Japan is quite unique and does depend on lots of underpaid laborers. I daresay that anything that absorbed at least some of the sweat, producin...

Re: Disappointing expensive Moho 12 Update

Well, I actually don't think Smith Micro - with a focus on Moho - has actually "come up in the world" - not actually. From what I have been able to deduce about the market for all kinds of graphics software, I can see that customer interest is waning - as expressed by overall sales - for a...

Mike:

Not in a million years - (which may be how long we will have to wait for OpenToonz to "get finished").

I wonder how many people there are in software purgatory?

Besides you and me, I mean.

Re: Blender New Innovative 2d Animation "GP Tools"

Well, Herbert . . . looks like it "may" become quite useful and at the top of the heap. But, unless you or someone else does that essential Python scripting that will get ALL the other stuff out of the way - ONLY exposing those panels and tools which are needed for Grease Pencil Animation ...
