Re: An Encouraging SB Test
Hope to see you do a face turn soon!! Thank you. I would have replied sooner if I had seen the notification. I'm still a long way from a 'satisfactory' head turn. I never started building my ideal character because I set my goals so high. I regret that. I just decided to build an 'incomplete' chara...

An Encouraging SB Test
I'm taking advantage of a child bone's ability to orbit the parent bone at a constant radius. I'm trying to achieve an accurate parallax in my turns. I bind vertical lines to each of the child bones and then use those lines as guides to shift-drag and scale layers. My goal is to use the same techniq...

Re: How to transform image?
Thank you for the education Victor. I had no idea quad mesh had that kind of power. It's time to upgrade.

How to transform image?
This animation is an experiment. The image texture that fills the box doesn't have a perspective effect. I'd like to know how to bind it to a bone so I can distort it slightly.

Re: 'Western Space Odyssey' close to completion
Your spaceship is outrageous :D and your artwork is gorgeous. I'm studying the way you drew the cowboy hat. Wow! I like it. I want to redesign my YouTube homepage character and I started working on a baseball cap because the fedora is a little dated but then I saw your hat  and decided to stay...

Re: Gradient Animation Control
"And when I go, I will go with the warm feeling that somewhere, on someone's computer, there will still be a folder holding my wisdom for futuere generations ..." It was key to understanding animation. It is as important as learning a walk cycle. Professional animators understand 'motion'.

Re: Gradient Animation Control
Re scaling for perspective: I'm a big fan of guide layers. In this case I'd create a layer with 12 circles in a circle (in a new project), then tilt that layer and play with camera distance and lens angle until I get the perspective I want. Render this, import as image under the turbine, and adjust...

Re: Gradient Animation Control
I'd go for a simple approach: do a circle with the gradient and import it as bitmap (masked in the blade), so I can control it's placement very exactly. Excellent idea. I prefer simplicity. I've already started over with a new file. Point translation was a second source of problems. I also want the...

...but you should be able to copy/paste the first keyframe to the end. Hard to tell exactly what else might be going on from just the video. Thank you. At least now I know that I'm not banging my head against a wall. I didn't say what the project was because it's far from finished. The large oval s...

Gradient Animation Control
I'm looking for 'any' suggestion that would help me get the effect I'm after. I'm rusty because I've away for so long but this is a project that I 'really' want to do. You can see in the smartbone cycle animation that the radial gradient glitches. It looks like I can't use onion skins to copy a radi...

Quick Turn Test
I've been working on a turn rig that uses a type of grid. Before I went too far I wanted to be sure the rig worked. So far I'm limited to a 32° turn in either direction. Anyway, I was happy with the test and I wanted to share a clip showing the result.

Re: I Think I've Exceeded the Limits of 9.5
Oh, that looks like a lot of unnecessary torture to me.... and far too complicated for me to understand  :D Thanks Chucky, that's a compliment from a world class animator! I made no attempt to explain it but you would understand the principle in less than five minutes. The side view of the h...

I Think I've Exceeded the Limits of 9.5
I committed to finishing my 9.5 projects that I lost when my old PC died. It'll be a while before I can get a copy of MOHO 13.5. It's my fault. I have always wanted to build characters that face the camera and that have the ability to nod and tilt heads slightly, not 360°, only about 30°. I just bui...

Re: Trailer for My Film Festival Submission- MOHO Animation
Well done. I decided to comment because you said you have been working on it for years. That reminded me of the time you reminded me about an animation that I had put aside because it took so much work. After you reminded me of it I made up my mind to finish it. It became my most viewed video.
