I get around 80% usage on complex scenes, but I find that I get less usage on very simple scenes, as it seems to render too fats to get any higher then 15-20%

Have you tried to turn off hyper threading in your Bios, so you run things on the full four cores, instead of 8 threads?

As neeter_guy said, it is a matter of taste, ont thing that is often useful is automated lip-synch, which only works with switch layer, personally I tend to animate the face manually with point motion, again, a matter of style and preferences!

Go into scripts/images in the top bar, this will allow you to automatically import your images in a switch layer and it will deal with visibility automatically!

Do as Tiger says, the option key is the Alt key on Windows!

You could also use the rescale keyframes tool in the Animation top menu, which allows you to rescale all or only certain channels!
