editing a video

Post by sbtamu »

Is there a way to clip the ends off a video and save it with out rendering it? I just filmed the grand kids picking up Easter eggs and I want to upload it to youtube but I want to cut about 2 minutes off the ends without having to render the entire 10 minutes again after cutting the ends off.

I believe VirtualDub allows you to remove segments without recompressing (stream copy mode).

Hi.

(I saw this post a day or so ago - but I decied to try out the free one before posting).

I use Quicktime Pro (you'll need to buy the Pro Version) [edit / trim to selection]

Real Player (http://www.real.com) is free and worked ok for me -- I've just tried it on .FLV / Windows -- so you might find platform / format dependent issues ... but they advertise the "trim" function on their home page so probably worth a shot?

good hunting

Thanks neeters_guy, I have VirtualDub and use it a lot but I think it only works with AVI and my camera is the dvd mini disc type that is saved as .VOB.

Thanks hayasidist, I'll look into real Player.
