I need advice for Voice Acting

Post by LightYagami123 »

I don't usually voice act in my own cartoons, but i recently considered the idea when I saw how much it can be. I recorded three segments of me saying a few dramatic lines. Please listen to all three they're short and shouldn't take up much of your time. Leaves comments on how I can improve the audio quality or my execution of saying lines. Thanks

Hey LightYagami! The acting sounds good, but your mic settings might need some adjustments. It sounds really quiet. Also, it sounds like they're talking through some kind of radio communication system. If that's the intent, it sounds good! If not, maybe adjusting your recording method? Are you using audacity to record?

Hey, lwaxana,, thank you for replying, and, yes I use audacity to record. Do you have any recommendations on how to use it in regards to a clear loud audio output? Thanks

I don't know what OS you have, but on my Windows XP machine I had issues with my mic recording too quietly. I had to go into the control panel > hardware and sound > sound > recording > select your mic > properties > levels > then adjust the slider to a louder volume. If you have a different OS, there is probably a similar setting.

Then after that is adjusted, open audacity and you should be able to record at a higher volume. After you record some voice acting or tests, try experimenting with effects. For really basic talking, I find Noise Removal, Normalize, and Amplify the most useful. But if you do some research, I'm sure there are all kinds of tricks.

Thank you, lwaxana, you're always helpful. I never heard of that club before (to be honest, i didnt really look for one). But, I'm already liking the club so far. They pretty much answered every question I had. Thanks again

Sure thing! Btw, I said Windows XP before, but I meant Windows 7. Argh. Probably not important since you clearly got the sound figured out! :D

I'd make the iPod do it.

For example:

iTunes > Preferences > Playback > [X] Sound Check (Automatically adjust song playback volume to the same level.)
