New create shape tool

Just select which mode you want (both, outline only, or fill only) and this create shape tool will create shapes accordingly. No more creating shapes and then unchecking either the fill or outline option in the styles window for each shape you create.

Download the zip file here.

Just unzip and drop the three syn_create_shape files into your AS/scripts/tool folder. If you don't already have Fazek's utilities, drop the fa_sharedutils file into your AS/scripts/utilities folder.

This is a mod of Fazek's tool, so you will need the fa_sharedutils required for those. Also credit to Rasheed for his no line create shape tool.

Note: You cannot create a 'fill only' shape unless the shape is closed.

Please let me know if you find this useful.

This is GREAT. For some reason I wasn't understanding what this was. It didn't click. Now I GET IT!

You should post a link to this thread in the general topic area. I think some AS users are "afraid" to read these threads or think that scripts are only for advanced users which might be why they don't see these posts.

with a color and no outline. i use the tool, pick a selection,

Tooner, this is a 'create shape tool', just like Fazek's or LM's. It doesn't do anything to already created shapes.

Try this:
1) create a circle without any fill or outline, with the oval tool
2) using syn_create_shape tool, select what kind of shapes you want to create (both, outline only, fill only) in the tool options at the top of the workspace
3) with this tool, define a shape to be filled
4) hit the space bar to finalize the shape

The 'both' option will create both fill and outline, and the other two options will do each separately.

Selgin
Glad I could fill the need in advance of the request

Vern
I hadn't thought of that. Here I was feeling underappreciated. You're probably right. I'll post a link elsewhere.

Where can I get the fa_utility needed for this tool?
Thanks in advance,

Oops, sorry about that. The Fazek utility is actually called 'fa_sharedutils'. I'll fix the first post.
