I can't find it on the forum anymore. Someone posted it somewhere... If anyone knows where I can find it (for ASP9), you'd help out a lot!
The embedded script looks for a bone you have to name 'Dangler' (I think), and it forces the direction to ALWAYS go down/right/whatever you set it to. So it counters all layer rotation/parent bone rotation.
Hope anyone knows who made it and where it is, I could use it right now.. Thanks!

I used this script before, but sometimes it presented problems.There is an alternative technique called "gravity star", created by super8mm. It's basically adding little bones with angle constraint -1 for each bone of the chain. So, if you have a chain of six bones, in the point you create six little bones "nullifying" the rotation of each one.

'gravity star' sounds interesting. Does any one have the example file the link is dead.?

Thanks guys This script saved me many HOURS of work. Or at least, it made animating super-easy instead of a pain in the ass.
