That is fantastic!
I have had to manually animate this kind of behavior many times, using onionskin and moving the points one by one.
The solution of defining the number the points for the wave is extremely clever!
Thank you very much for sharing this.

Thanks, guys.

I forgot to mention this, but you can combine this tool with the wave warp menu script. Just use the wave generator first to set down all your points and then apply the wave warp menu script on top of it. You can accomplish the same effect as wave warp from After Effects.

Simple and elegant. I immediately thought of all the things that are a pain to animate, like chainsaws and tank tracks, that would be easy with a tool like this. Thanks for sharing!
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

That's amazing!

Recently I wanted to make a wavy skirt edge appear to move side to side using vectors but really struggled with it; I wound up abandoning the effect. This tool might have made that effect a lot easier to do because your demo looks a lot like what I was trying to do.

Thanks for posting this. Will give it a shot this weekend.

The script works pretty well for long windswept hair. The only trouble is the tip of the hair which is a pain to setup. If anyone figures out a good technique, I'd love to hear it. :D

Yeah nice,
maybe just try running the wave faster?
I hate to say the word mask, but two intersecting masks could clean it up.

I updated the script with a new displace feature. It allows you to create waves by using time analysis instead of just moving points forward. The result is a lot cleaner and easier to use mesh. The old features are still there for people who prefer them.

I haven't tried it on AS 11.2. Download it and try it, it might work.
