copy and paste animation, including sublayers

hey, does anyone know if there is a way to copy and paste animation from one version of a model into another version of the exact same model. but to include sublayers, vectors, bones, switches etc.
i tired adding the animation into an action exporting that and adding that into the new model, but its not working as planned. and i vaguely remember a script, from way back before copy/paste animation that exported animation as a text file for importing again, but i cants find it in the forum.
anyone else remember this script?
