lip sync in AS not as good as in PapaG

Howdy,
I thought I did a pretty good job of getting the lip sync right in PapaG.
Inside AS however it doesn't look as good. It requires a bit of re-tweaking.
Is it just me or is there something lost between PG & AS?
I'm a newB on a Mac if that helps.
Thanks,
Craig

It's probably not the difference between PG and AS, but rather just the way lipsync works.

In this regard it's best to do some reading and study -- as always, Richard Williams' book is the bible. As he notes, lipsync ain't scientific, and it *usually* looks best when done slightly ahead of the sound (but never behind it, unless you're going for the Godzilla school of filmmaking). But every single instance will require some tweaking to get it to look right.

I nearly always start my PG work two frames ahead of the sound, and this looks right about 9 times out of ten. But for expert work you will need to tweak even this at the AS level.

Also, note that using interpolation nearly always looks better, even if the sync is slightly off. Non-interpolated shapes will never be quite as convincing.

Remember that many times things don’t look to be synced in the preview, but will be just fine when you render to video. Don’t assume you’ve got it wrong until you render. AS has a lot more work to do on the fly than Papagayo does.
