seems so ridiculously simple now...but here was the response from customer service...

"To dock a window, simply uncheck the appropriate option from the Window menu."

Would you mind sharing this simple step? :-) Because I, too, have been looking all the time how to redock the tools window etc. to the nice layout they had when I opened AS 6 for the first time. Now these windows are floating, disturbing my sight onto the menu - and sorry but I can not find that "appropriate option from the window".

(And I am too new with the program and therefore not brave enough to overwrite text files containing AS settings.)

Right after posting. had a new idea ...
Resized the program's window (made it a bit smaller than my screen) and positioned the floating boxes (tools, layers, style, timeline) on the remaining place on the screen, outside AS main window. Gosh, it is really that simple!
:D
