Generate thumbnails for content I add to the library?

Post by lpbaker »

When I add content to the library, it has a generic "Anime Studio" icon rather than a preview of the actual scene. How can I get it to generate thumbnails for what I add?

Thanks,
Lindsay

You need to render a png file with the same name as the AS file and save it in the same place in the library. I think that's how it works. I've only done it once. ;)

I'm using Anime Studio 7 PRO in Win 7.

I'm not sure what is meant by 'saving the PNG file in the same place in the library'.

I'll detail what I've done so far. I created a character with a 24 frame animation. I then saved it to the Library by selecting the Layer (Folder) the character is in, selection the Library folder to save in, and hitting the '+' button. This does put the character in the Library, but with no icon.

I now have created a PNG I want to use as the icon. I name it to the project file name (???, seems like it should be the name of the character instead (the name it is saved in the Library), but in my case, they are the same.... which is it really?).

Now, how do i place the PNG file 'in the same place' in the Library? an image can't be placed in a Character folder, it is an entirely different mechanism.

I looked, and I assume I don't put the PNG in the Library folder on the HD...

So what do I do? :)

Actually, that's exactly what you do. The .anme file and the .png file should be in the same folder in the library and have the same name.

I have found a directory called Library under the Anime Studio PRO 7 folder on the HD. But in this directory there are only PNG file, no .anme files. Plus none of images for any of the included charaters are there.

So it doesn't sound like I'm looking in the right place.

What directory exactly are you referring to? If I'm describing the right one, why are thee no .anme files in it?

I got this program 2 days ago so I'm a very new beginner here... :)

UPDATE: ok, found it... this is kind of bad... there are TWO place one can find a Library folder under 'Smith Micro'... one in in 'Program Files' the other in 'Documents'. It is the one in 'Documents' in this case!! Of course I was looking in 'Program Files'... :)

AND THANK YOU... it works perfectly now!!! :)
