I'm wanting to make a longer project, around a 30 min cartoon, with multiples scenes in it. Is there any way to make multiple files then render them all into one avi? the other option i see is to make a group layer for each scene. any ideas?

Render each scene and join them together with a video editor.

Do that, make a group layer for every scene.
Then import them all into one document and use the sequenser to arrange the timing and order of the scenes.

A 30 min film is best done with individual scenes in individual project files, then rendered to video and edited with a video editor.

I doubt that a single AS file with 30 minutes of animation will even open without crashing. It's just too big.

(Ah, and wasn't there a frame number limit?)
