Body turn

I see a lot of tuts that show for example a bear doing a full spin with his arms and such, but I'm wondering if anyone might share some ideas or methods on how to turn from face forward to profile side view with a human character. Something a little more complex than a round polar bear. Oh also I use smart bones so smart bones advice is preferable. Thanks guys.
