FBF in AS 11

Post by exile »

Just saw the FBF tutorial twice, it left me with this question: if you copy a frame, can you change it with the drawing tools? That would save having to draw every frame from scratch. I know a webinar is coming up on June 2nd, but the introductory offer ends the same day.

It would surprise me if AS was not flexible enough to enable "copy and transform frame" with this new feature, but I'd appreciate confirmation.

Just checked for you. If you copy and paste keyframes they all reference back to a single layer. But you can just go to the layer in the folder and duplicate it, and then it adds a keyframe to the timeline.

There is a button in the main window (and F6 as shortcut) to duplicate a frame, it's next to the + and - buttons. So you can have the same frame duplicated and make changes on the second without affecting the first one and viceversa.
Also, if you open the fbf layer and select a vector layer, you can animate its points (just like normal AS behavior). So you can combine fbf plus specific point animation.

If I need to have the same frame showing at different times in my animations, I color that key and then copy and paste it in the frames I want. If you modify one frame, all the other copies will be changed too. The color is useful to know exactly in which other moments that key is also being used and don't make mistakes, as, for example, to edit it thinking you are changing only that single frame and not its "clones".

That's a good one. With some software, the hyped features aren't useful in practice, but so far Anime has delivered pretty well.

hello everyone i been using anime studio for about a year now and am getting the hang of it quite quicktly but there still a process i can seem to master and it the FBF process , actually it not the process itself am having trouble with is coloring.

everytime i do a FBF animation i struggle having to color each Frame individually and it really annoying.

isnt there a way i can color multiple frames at the same time without having to colore aach frame individually, that takes too much time

If FBF is your primary concern, perhaps OpenToonz (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=29022) might be a better choice? I can recommend the tutorials by pherbert123, and the software is also free, so it wouldn't cost anything to try it out and see if you like it. I believe it's possible to colour in multiple frames at the same time...
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

If you don't like to recolor, you should create style and apply to any shapes....thats way if you duplicate a frame, you don't have manually apply styles to it.

indeed -- and if you duplicate frame and shove the points and vectors around, you don't even need styles

Try out other software, but all roads lead back to AS.
