How do I save styles/brushes from other files?

Post by NealF »

Hello,

I've downloaded the tutorial files from a Charles Kenway webinar. In the file are several brushes or styles that I'd like to use in my other files.

I can't find any info on how to save them globally so they can be reused. Is there a way to do this?

Also, are there free styles and brushes available anywhere?

Thanks.

If I'm understanding this correctly, when I import the styles it brings in the styles that are a part of another file. That works fine.
But the styles are only in the new document. They're not available on any other document unless I import again.

Is this correct? Seems like there should be a way to keep styles you want as a default for all you files.

Thanks.

If you want default styles for all new files, setup a template file. Otherwise you can export styles and import them into any existing file.

According to ASP user manual, to create a template you just save a regular file into the templates folder.
I've done this and the file doesn't show up in the "New from Template" menu.

Also, the two templates that came with the program aren't in that folder. In fact, I did a search and can't even find where those two templates are stored.

You must restart AS for new template files to be found.

The stock templates are in the installation directory. Something like: C:\Program Files\Smith Micro\Anime Studio Pro 11\Resources\Support\Templates

Thanks for your answer, but it's still confusing.

I see that I can create a custom content folder. But still, where do I save templates?

Thanks.

Uh, the templates folder. I thought you said you already did that.

Yeah. Did that. But it doesn't show up when I try to open a new file from a template.
All I see are the two templates that come with the pgm. And they are NOT in the templates folder. In fact, I searched for them and they must be a hidden file or something. Didn't turn up in the search.

My reply that it was still confusing was meant for eschat.

And yes, already tried restarting.

Thanks. Got that working now.

Still curious as to why putting a file in the templates folder doesn't show up when you try to open a template.
Also, where are those two default templates that come with the program? There not anywhere a computer search can find.
Yet, they do exist.

Chucky beat me to it but, yeah, you can save Styles to the Library now. Just click on the last button (Styles) and you can organize your Styles by production, characters, props, whatever you like.

I've find this new feature very handy, especially during the early stages of design and setup.
