Show texture under gradient?

I thought I came up with something really cool but it doesn't render don't know if this is a bug or not for Moho Pro 12. The gradient has one color with transparency on about 70%. Effect 1 has an image texture

I tried in version 8: it shows the texture plus the gradient in preview, but only renders the gradient.

I know I could just copy the object and just use texture underneath or even reference for animation would probably work but I'd like to see this work on one object.

All fill effect transparency punches through the whole shape. So if you have an image texture with transparency and a gradient with transparency, the only part that will show is where the opaque parts of each overlap.

There is a kind of logic in there ...

It won't work on a single object SuperSGL. If you're really worried about treating it as one object you can put the two layers in a group and use the texture layer as a mask. That way you can oversize the gradient layer a little bit and adjust the gradient to how you like and then treat the folder as one object to manipulate the shape and size as needed.

Guyver's post made me think of another alternative. You could reference the layer and have the gradient in one and the image texture in the other. That way they stay aligned and both use the original layer's shape effect handle. So it works like it would on one layer.
