Pin Bones not working

Post by Gaucho »

Hello everybody!

After closely following the tutorial 'pin bones' of Moho Pro 12, I am still not able to create a pin bone with a single click in my Mac.

Did anybody also experience a similar problem?

Thank you in advance for any tip or solution!

Gaucho:

Perhaps you could make a "step-by-step" list of what you did to place your Pin Bones, like this . . .

1) Made a shape
2) Made a Bone Layer
3) Placed Vector Layer into Bone Layer
4) With Bone Layer selected - clicked on "Add Bone" Tool
5) Clicked within Shape to place a single Pin Bone.

Thank you Greg for your reply!

Although I did the 'step by step' instructions my result is still the same.

Perhaps there is some checking to do in the Preferences that I am not aware of?

Cheers!

Can you upload an example?

Pin bones basically work like regular bones...by adding them to the bones layer, they should automatically affect all the artwork under the bones layer.

The only things I can think of is that maybe your artwork is not nested under the bones group layer, or your artwork has been explicitly bound to other existing bones in the group. If it's the former, you need to drag your artwork to be a child of the bones group; if it's the latter, you may need to unbind the art so it can be affected by the Pin Bones in the group or otherwise be explicitly bound to them instead.

Hope this helps.

Edit: Just thought of something else. While I don't think this is likely, is it possible that you've muted the bones channels?

Oops! Sorry, I re-read your message and now I understand that you're actually having trouble creating the Pin Bones.

That's a new one on me. Are you able to create regular bones in the layer?

If your Mac just won't let you create a bone by clicking and not moving the mouse (for whatever reason), just create a regular bone and set its length to zero with the transform bone tool on frame zero.

This is what I do if I want a parented chain of pin bones.

Ooh! That's a really neat trick. In fact, I could have used that yesterday. Thanks for sharing it. :D

Hello Greenlaw!

Here is a video with my 'step by step'... at around 36 seconds I did the single click to create the pin bone, with a few tries before ending the video with a new regular bone to answering your question.

Thank you for any help you can offer!

Thank you Synthsin75!!!
I changed the bone "length to 0" as you advised and now it works wonderfully as a "pin bone"!
Thank you again!

Wow, that is pretty weird.

Maybe it's a mouse driver issue? If it's even applicable, have you tried updating the drivers? Have you tried a different mouse?

I don't think this is a 'Mac' issue but maybe a Mac user will pop in with some suggestions.

Just remember that zeroed length bones will not be parented like pin bones (where every pin bone is child of the last selected regular bone).

Hello Greenlaw!

I am using a pen with a Wacom tablet, and also tried a single click pin bone creation with other two mouses...

Curiouser and curiouser.

Just to be sure, you're saying it doesn't work with either the tablet or the mice?

I'm using a Cintiq and an Intuos, as well as a mouse at my workplace, and all three devices can click-create Pin bones. I'm on Windows here but I'm sure, if this didn't work on Mac, other users would mention it too.

Check if there's a newer Wacom driver. Although I'm a little doubtful this will help if you're also having problems with the mouse.

Hope you can get this figured out.
