Cycling switch group does not render

Post by Jkoseattle »

I'm exporting my movie which contains a cycling switch group. When I playback in Moho the CSG displays fine. In the finished MP4 however, the switching doesn't happen, I just see one of the images in the group. what's really weird is I have another movie I'm also exporting which contains the same cycling switch group and it exported properly the first time. What could be the difference? As mentioned, the switch group plays back correctly in Moho.

MOVIE 1, MOHO PLAYBACK: Works
MOVIE 1, EXPORTED MP4: Works
MOVIE 2, MOHO PLAYBACK: Works
MOVIE 2: EXPORTED MP4: No switching

Not sure without seeing anything.

Just a guess and it's not a good one: is the animated channel muted? That doesn't really make sense because that should also affect playback...just putting it out there.

How are you rendering the projects? Through the regular exporter or Moho Exporter?

When rendering with Moho Exporter, sometimes you need to be sure you saved the project before adding it to the queue...otherwise, the Exporter may rendering an older but most recently saved version of the project (i.e., maybe a version without the switch animation.) BTW, that's not normal behavior...I think Moho is supposed to save the project before it renders anyway but I've seen it hiccup before.

If that doesn't help, quit Moho and relaunch. In general, I like to restart Moho every so often when I'm working on multiple and complex projects...this helps with stability.

If you haven't rebooted your computer in a while, you might try that too. I reboot my computer several times during the week...not for Moho but because I run many different programs and large projects throughout the day, and I think a regular reboot helps with system stability.

not bad suggestions at all, in fact, they (sort of) solved the problem. I'm good now. However, what turned out to be happening was something else weird:

1. Noticed the action to rifle through the switch group in cycle wasn't in the timeline at all. That's funny, coulda sworn...
2. Added it.
3. Playback, looks great.
4. Saved
5. Closed Moho because Greenlaw said I should
6. Re-opened Moho
7. Action no longer in timeline again! WTF....
8. Added action by copy instead of by reference, had to add cycle by hand.
9. Saved
10. Exported animation, worked correctly. THE END
