Thumbnails no longer showing up with Moho 12.5

A few weeks ago I tried the Moho 13 demo and now, when I run Moho 12.5, it doesn't seem to save the thumbnails for my projects. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I think it might not be, because I didn't see this problem before and I did notice that when Moho 13 was installed, it set itself as the program that opens my Moho files. I did go into File Explorer and change it back to 12.5. I have checked document preferences for both programs and they both say 512x512 max.

Anybody have any idea how to get the thumbnails to save again. You see how really valuable that is when it's not working any more :O

Same happened to me in the same way. I wasn't able to make them work again. Hope that someone has the solution :?

Hmm...I have both 12.5 and 13 on my laptop but I'm getting the preview icon with either program.

Just to be sure I understand, you're talking about the thumbnail icon for a project file in a desktop folder, correct?

FWIW, I heard from another user about the same issue; but I'm not sure I'm seeing the problem here. I'll post if I learn anything new.

Yes. I have Windows 10, and I'm talking about the thumbnails in the File Explorer. Here's a little snip. The thumbnail stops showing up if I save or even if I move a file.

Ok, that is weird then because I'm getting the preview picture icons for both 12.5 and 13 files.

But, yeah, I've heard from other people seeing the same issue you're seeing. Not sure why though.

I just checked my 'default' app for Moho files and it's currently set to Moho 13.0.0.

I'll post if I start seeing the problem here or if I learn anything helpful.

Just thought of something:

You've probably already done this but double check your Icon Preview setting in Preferences.

Earlier I noticed that sometimes changes to Preferences aren't properly saved after I quit Moho, and I have to try again to make the settings 'stick'. Try selecting a different size setting, click Okay, and then quit. If that works but you want the default setting (512 x 512,) select that, click Okay and quit again.

(Deleted text...ignore what I wrote in this space earlier. The info didn't apply to the Preferences window.)

Thanks Greenlaw. Your hints lead me to the problem. The problem is
you cannot set the "Opens with" property back to 12.5 (or I guess any earlier version) if you have Moho 13 installed
I tried all the save attempts none worked, so, just for kicks, I set the "Opens with" property back to 13.0, and the thumbnails all of the sudden show up! Change it back to 12.5 and they disappear :(

I tried to submit this Tech Support issue,
I have Moho 12.5 and was trying the demo for Moho 13. Moho 13 automatically makes the "Opens with" property to Moho13. However, I want files to open with Moho 12.5 by default. If I change the "Opens with" property to 12.5, Moho 12.5 will no longer save thumbnails when saving the file. If I change the "Opens with" property back to 13, the thumbnails are now visible, even if I don't resave.
but the "Word Verification" image still doesn't show up (I've tried installing the flash extension and using other browsers). My expectation is that they've moved the img src location. I guess that's an easy way to avoid Tech Support issues :) If anyone can submit Tech Support issues, it might help others if they knew about it.

In the meantime, I guess I'll just set this back to Moho 12.5, until I decide if I'm going to upgrade. I like the bitmap tools, but I actually don't think I'd use them that much since I've already gotten used to the vector tools and I have better tools for bitmap. It's definitely a huge improvement for those that mainly do bitmap work though.

256 is good for Windows
Just a quick note to others. I have an older Cintiq 21, 1600x1200, so this may differ if you have much higher resolution, but for me 256 x 256 is just as good as 512 x 512 for thumbnails. Even in extra large icon view, 256 x 256 fills the view (no surrounding space). If you look really closely it's a little jaggy, but ... it's a thumbnail :)

Hope my adventures help others :)

If I remember correctly, there was an issue in v12 where its thumbnails weren't being cached properly. So yeah, associating files with v12 could be the issue.

OK. Thanks. At least we know the work around now.

Same happened to me and I could not find any solution yet. I downloaded Moho 13 trial verison just to try out new bitmap tools. After couple hours of playing with them I deleted Moho 13. And then, thumbnails started to not show up on newly created or updated moho files. Really wish there was a solution for that, I dont want to re-install Moho 13 just for that. :(

I believe you need to re-associate your Moho files to Moho 12.

Right-click on the file and choose Open With... From there, select Moho 12 and enable Always Use This App To Open .moho File.

If you don't see Moho 12 listed, click More Apps and choose it from that list. If you don't see it on the list, you need to click Look For Another App and navigate to the program.

Alternatively, you can do this from the Choose Default Apps By File Type control panel window.

Hope this helps.
