I'm planning on making a complex base character rig, with body and head turning and as versatile as I can. That base rig will be used to make various characters. As a begginer, I can see many advantages in using references inside the base rig, because I would have to create less body parts (only one eye, one arm, etc), less smartbone actions, and if I want to make a character from the base rig I only have to modify one eye, etc.
But do you think it is a good idea, or it has limitations/disadvantages? If so, what are those? for example, I'm worried that maybe I cannot animate one eye without animating the other, or conflicts between smartbone actions, etc.
Thanks for reading!
Is it a good idea to use references inside the same rig?
